Kacey Musgraves comes back with this magnificent story telling driven album, where she explores Norteño Music, influences from Mexico, collaborating with legends like Willie Nelson and Miranda Lambert and giving us probably her best lead single ever: Dry Spell. I really enjoyed most of the tracks, but at certain points it felt flat, uninspired, maybe too generic. Either way, I’ll keep an eye on her cuz her voice is so beautiful.
Lykke Li lands on a very peaceful, yet interesting project, that probably would need some kind of build up to assure an even pleasurable listening to the non niche listener. Deep lyrics, dark moments, her signature voice all on point. Most will agree that the album felt short and probably will need a deluxe edition with more upbeat moments to complete the core of the project.
Jessie Ware has brought spring to blossom in this exquisite album. “Ride”, “Sauna” and “Don’t You Know Who I Am” are the stand out tracks from this project where she excels prominently and her signature voice shines through sassy melodies, eloquent lyrics.
Melanie Martínez crafted a cohesive story about love, hate, war and peace. You can see her in the middle wondering, wandering, exploring, remembering. Where else can she take us now? She opened the portals and now the path is leading to the end of the world. Possession, The Vatican and Chat Room are the top three of this album.
