Halsey - The Great Impersonator
93

by far her most vulnerable piece of work, halsey blends her beautiful writing and tragic story into a wonderful concept album which asks us: "what if halsey was born in different decades? Would she be the same halsey, or would the end still catch up?" i can catch all the inspirations taken from other artists, and love the promotion she put out on her socials where she shows us which artists influenced which song. "darwinism" takes the lead by far, giving me a feel of her ... read more

an amazing artistic breakthrough. halsey's voice blends beautifully with the production of atticus ross and trent reznor; somehow, the writing shines even brighter. so much imagery is shown through simple words, helping you paint a picture with the song. "Bells in Santa Fe" is by far my favourite song of ALL time; with knowledge of halsey's backstory, a song about a miscarriage from the point of view of the unborn baby is very emotional. knowing the story of the album, it ... read more

Halsey - Manic

though one of halsey's most vulnerable works, manic is my least favourite of all her albums. i feel her voice fits the alt pop / rock music more than mainstream pop / electronic genre. songs like "I HATE EVERYBODY" and "Forever ... Halsey - hopeless fountain kingdom (Deluxe)

you can tell it's halsey's sophomore album. she's worked harder with the production, lyrics; it sounds like the older sister of badlands. love the storyline based on romeo + juliet, but being in eighth grade when the album dropped, i remember not being able to pick up the story. to this day, i'm still a bit confused about the story, but i get the overall gist. not knowing the story, however, doesn't ruining the listening experience! love

Halsey - BADLANDS (Deluxe)

one of the signature (dare i say, best) alt pop albums of 2015; the storytelling, creepiness, and vocals. i frequently revisit and pretend i'm 12 again, just to feel that nostalgia. songs like "drive," "gasoline," and "hurricane" really make you feel the alternative, powerful side. i listen to the deluxe more than the standard because the tracklist feels more complete, more like a story is being told.
