Ruby is my first experience with any member of BLACKPINK, and honestly, while I can't speak about the group's other work both separate and together, this was an enjoyable album. I'm not CRAZY about this project, but it's got some major highlights. It's production is all around great, and I enjoy the little bits of spice and flair added into it to make what would otherwise be a pretty generic sound really POP. Also, while I'm not huge on every bit of this release's lyricism, JENNIE's delivery is great on here, and it totally overshadows the vast majority of the weak lyrical spots. However, with all of that praise out of the way, there were a few things I didn't really love about this album. I don't think there were any consistent problems track-to-track, but there are quite a few songs on here I just didn't care for. Either the beat was too plain, or JENNIE was. Though, beyond those few gripes, I don't really have any major problems with this project. Ruby might not amaze me, but I think it easily deserves all the flowers it gets for songs like ExtraL, ZEN, and Damn Right.
Best Tracks: ExtraL, ZEN, Damn Right
Weakest Track: F.T.S.
