This year marks 20th anniversary of Freeway's debut album. What a gem from the early 00's.
Album stil sounds hard and fresh.
Freeway throwing rhymes with his own unique style, complementing with raw street tales and hustle music. Production is amazing. Most of the production was done by Just Blaze with additions from Kanye West, B!nk and others. Very nice to hear Freeway's slower flow on soulful beats on this album.
Couple of heavy phenomenal features are: Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, Snoop Dogg, Nate ... read more
Debut album from Young Dro is another one of those albums that I like to go back to it and listen to it again.
For me this is such a fun record to listen to and it is very good hip hop album overall.
Production is amazing, very well produced album, all beats are banging, hard bass is just perfect for listening in the car.
Executive produced by T.I., but Khao, Nitti, Jazze Pha & Lil' C are some of the producers who did an amazing job.
Slim Thug, Xtaci & T.I. are only features.

8th solo studio album from Mack 10 and for me seriously underrated album.
Hard gangsta and west coast album with amazing production and very good lyrics.
Lot of features on this album, some of them are G. Malone, Lil' Wayne, Akon, Rick Ross & Birdman.
Also a lot of producers on the album, to name a few Don Vito, Ervin "EP" Pope & Fredwreck and Mack 10 is executive producer.
This album has everything you expect from a gangsta album, from hustle game, swagger and the street ... read more
11th studio album and I think Lil Keke's first album on major label.
Definitely his most commercial album til date, but very dope one and personally my favourite.
He might not been a top tier lyricist, but he has a fantastic delivery and flow. His voice is unique and his flow is very easy to listen to.
On this album he is introspective, talking about his past such us his difficult childhood and lost of loved ones and he elevates and represents a slab car culture. Also he have a couple of radio ... read more
If this is the end of the King's Disease trilogy, Nas saved the best album for last.
KDIII is exceptional and impressive project with excellent production and phenomenal lyrics.
Hit-Boy with the best beats so far, superb production and his samples game are crazy good.
He flips beats from older boom bap to modern beats, Nas is floating, no problem.
Nas's confidence is on high level, he is playing with his rhymes, switching speed of his flow on different beats.
He sounds so smooth on the mic. Top ... read more
First lady of Griselda is back with her sophomore album The Liz 2.
This time around she do little bit of everything, singing and spitting hot bars which is nice to hear.
Maybe too many slow singing songs that sound a bit commercial to me, but that's not necessarily a bad thing or weakness.
I personally just like harder and street songs more. Hunnit Dolla Hiccup is a banger!
Nice boom bap beats and production in general, maybe too much similar beats in the end.
Daringer, Denny Laflare, Beatking ... read more
I'm so glad that I gave a proper listen to this artist, full project, not just couple of songs.
This is his 5th project, but 3rd in the Memphis Massacre series.
For me this is kind of crunk revival or rebirth, full nostalgia. Very dark and horrorcore music full of energy.
Banging beats and production is highlight of this album. Lot of Three 6 Mafia influence and Memphis rap influence in general.
Hitkid, Ayoza & DJ Paul are some of the producers.
Not so much depth in lyricism on album, but ... read more
Pusha T with his 4th major studio album are cemented his solo and group discography and legacy even more as one of the best lyricist in the game.
On this album there is nothing new with subject matter, real coke rap album as we expected.
But he always find a new creative aspect and delivery on each new project and that gives you a different feeling.
Lyrically he is on point, telling us layers of a dope dealers game, and his bars all over the album are amazing.
His Joker smile sound through his ... read more
Almost 3 years after his debut, Maino released his 2nd album.
On this album his lyrics is more focused on how he endures fame and how fame reflects on his life and he also remembers life before prison and fame.
He considers himself lucky to have a successful life, but he failed to find the meaning of true happiness.
To go even deeper, he is telling us how his family is suffering since he became famous from his bad decisions, such as his rich lifestyle and groupies. He is aware of the ... read more
Debut album from Maino released in 09', I have the same feeling now and back then when I was listening to it for the first time. This is very good album and his flows and storytelling are good and production is very nice.
Very personal album from Maino, his lyrics describe his ups & downs and trial & tribulations.
He recalls his prison time, when he was released from prison and his hustling and grinding til his dreams comes true.
Album contains street songs and radio friendly songs for ... read more
Excellent 8th studio album from Nas. Another one of those albums that I appreciate it more today then before.
Statement Hip Hop is Dead gain a lot of controversy at the time, but there is so much layers to it.
For example lost of originality in artists, industry as money machines, not respect for hip hop piers etc.
At the time beats were different comparing it to his past projects.
I have to say not the top tier production, but very good overall with great beats, drums and samples.
Kanye West, ... read more
Westside Boogie definitely avoided so called "sophomore jynx".
On his 2nd album Boogie is going even deeper lyrically, he is showing his growth.
He said this album is for the people that feel boxed by the world, people who is too weak to express their feelings and embracing them.
This is some kind of therapeutic music I would say, various themes on this album such as demons, insecurities, weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
Boogie presented us with an emotional roller coaster called life ... read more
This year is 10 year anniversary of Meek Mill's debut album, time flies.
Today the album sounds maybe a slightly better then 10 years ago, reason for me is high expectation at the time and nostalgia.
And with several Meek's projects after this one, you can clearly see that his debut album have a big impact and he put a stamp to the rap game.
Album is listenable and interesting, but suffers with little inconsistency.
Emotion and great storytelling prevails on most of the tracks, but it feels he ... read more
8th studio album from Jeezy is his another great release.
Subject matter and formula remains the same, he is sticking to the winning script.
Street tales in which he touched on usual topics such as hustle, grind, drugs, violence, society and religion.
He is not preaching like pastors in church, but he kind of tells his story from his veteran position.
Some themes are to inspire, some of them are just for flexing, bragging and to have fun with it.
Production is excellent, beats are banging, ... read more
On his 3rd LP Vince Staples gave us a radio show concept with only 22 minutes playing time.
Very sharp lyrics with dope flows and bars.
West Coast sound with serious themes, such us violence and reality of living in Long Beach.
All tracks together flows smoothly with few radio skits through album to fulfill a concept of an album.
Kenny Beats is on majority of production. E-40, Jay Rock, Kehlani, Earl Sweatshirt and few more appears on the album.
Very creative and highly listenable album, but ... read more
Listening to this album again made me realize why this album is called a classic and maybe even the best album from Kanye West, but it is still a subjective opinion which is the best album from him.
For me it is his best album without a doubt, everything works perfectly, well almost perfectly.
I was hoping the album will end up with a "boom", for me it kind of slow down towards the end of the album.
Nevermind, since my score is higher then before, I really appreciate it more ... read more
After 10 years and a lot of different projects, $oul $old $eperately is Freddie's fifth solo and first major label album.
This album leans more to commercial sound than his previous ones, but not to such an extent.
$$$ is kind of concept album. Fictional hotel, resort and casino $$$ which Freddie works in and it may represent his mind.
He still sticks to his style and lyricism, but this time he added some melodic and almost singing hooks which fits him very well.
Diverse production through ... read more
Lot of years has past since Joc's debut album, I must say that the album has grown on me over the years.
Of course this album is not that quality body of work, but I have to take into consideration nostalgic aspect and singles that I was bumping when this album was released.
Yung Joc sounds smooth, his flow is nice, sometimes he sounds kind of repetitive.
Overall average lyrics, no depth, but good flows and delivery.
Album starts good, but falls into monotony near the end of the album.
He got ... read more
One of Jay-Z's weakest albums, but that doesn't mean it's a bad hip hop album.
That tells you how heavy his discography is.
All stars producers on this album such as Just Blaze, The Neptunes, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West etc.
But surprisingly production and beats are not that good and that's the main issue with this album.
Just Blaze & Dr. Dre delivers with the beats.
Jay-Z sounds good, his flows and delivery are ok, but it is not great as we used to. So this is another flaw, step down ... read more
Another mainstream record from 00's. U.S.A. sounds nostalgic, good and bad at the same time.
Maybe a mixed bag, but definetly has more positive sides then negative.
Entertaining album, with no lyrical depth, so it must be approached in that way.
In first half of the album are few "serious" songs which surprises me, but the majority of the songs are club and fun record as expected.
Mr. Collipark is executive producer, very good beats through album.
Appearances from Bun B, Mike Jones, ... read more
