last i indulged in khalid was the american teen era. i liked a song or two since then but never gave him the time of day. the only reason i even gave THIS album a chance was bcs i saw a clip of a song on twitter that got me hooked. SOOOOO glad i gave the whole album a chance, i really did enjoy it! it felt so authentic and confident. it felt like himself, something i never really got from past work. “out of body” is probably be making my top streamed songs of 2026. classic bruno mars yearning. i love it. a lot of memorable songs here, but it kinda felt like it was missing something? can’t quite put a finger on it though.
favorite tracks: on my soul, something serious, nothing left
definitely not for me. i feel bad rating it as low as i want to purely based on my enjoyment, because it is a well made album. so i simply will not rate it. i always appreciate when artists experiment, but this is unfortunately my least favorite gorillaz album.
gave don toliver a chance and i happy with it. i liked the energy, and it will probably be one of my workout albums.
favs: body, call back
this album felt like it dragged, i couldnt listen to it all in one sitting. nothing stood out to me or changed my life, but tbh i didnt really expect it to. not necessarily bad music though, i just won't be revisiting
fav track: 39 intro
not a bad album, but not something i see myself revisiting often, although i imagine this would be good music to study with because of the atmospheric sound. it's been a few weeks so i forgot everything i wanted to say. no specific tracks stood out to me enough for me to remember.
based on some reviews i’m thinking i’ll have to give this album another chance to really delve into the lyrics. none of the songs were bad, but maybe just not my style.
fav track: time today
i enjoyed the album, it just felt like there was something missing. not as many of the songs stood out to me, but i see myself revisiting this album in the future.
fav tracks: birds, i care
enjoyable album, but didn’t really blow me away. lyrically pretty average. hope he keeps getting experimental with future projects bcs some of the instrumental are super interesting. i do think some of it starts to blend into the average hip hop sound, so i’d love to see him fully commit to it in the future. idk if his audience would be able to handle it though based on the response to STFU (it was a cool song guys). the only song i didn’t really like on first listen was ... read more
stumbled on this album when apple music recommended one of its songs, and what a lovely surprise it was. the album feels like summer: the upbeat songs make u want to groove and the slower songs make u want to sit in the summer breeze. definitely has some similarities to ocean alley!
fav tracks: naturally, what is growing up?, is he your man, underground
big fan of this album, i can see why it is regarded as one of the best in hip-hop.
fav tracks: C.R.E.A.M, wu-tang aint nothin ta f wit, can it all be so simple
Love that retro pop/rock vibe, you can definitely hear the album’s influences. a lovely blend of different sounds. nothing really groundbreaking or life changing, but it’s got some really catchy hooks and i really enjoyed the whole album.
fav tracks: link, egg, gap tooth smile, charlie’s garden
loved the inclusion of the horror-movie type snippets, really adds to the overall vibe of the album. lyrically, this is a league of its own. unfortunately a few things didn’t really age well.
fav track: gold, living in the world today, 4th chamber
My favorite spoon album, definitely underrated. Sensing some Pixies influence in this one which i loved.
fav track: metal detektor
