I know this isn’t a genuine live album but a mixture of shows and pieced together edited songs from Queen’s Concerts in Europe 1979. The album is bursting with energy and Mercury in fine form with songs from Queens best era , the 1970s. If this was a genuine full show then I would rate it 96. Best Songs are We Will Rock You (fast version) , Let Me Entertain You , Now I’m Here , Spread Your Wings , Love Of My Life , Dreamers Ball and Tie Your Mother Down.
This was the first Journey album I listened to and loved it from the first line of the first song. Stunning vocals from Steve Perry , Great songwriting and brilliant musicianship. I would ignore the rolling stone review as the reviewers seem to be jealous of great bands like Queen and Journey. This album has some great power ballads and every song is very decent. Best tracks are Don’t Stop Believin’ , Who’s Crying Now , Stone in Love , Mother Father and Still They Ride
Kiss were one of my favourite bands mid to late 80s but looking back this album wasn’t that good despite me liking a few of the tracks. The songwriting continues the trend of the solo albums by the fact that Stanley is better at it than Simmons and likewise at singing. Some really weak tracks by Gene. Best tracks are Thrills in the Night , Heaven’s on Fire , I’ve had Enough and Under the Gun.
A lot of the reviews on this site seem to be - listen just once and rush to get another review on their profile. This album is a great return to form by Journey with Steve Perry still producing brilliant vocals even 11 years on from the last album. Maybe overloaded with ballads but all are top level. The Piano work by Jonathan Cain on Still She Cries is possibly the best I have heard on any Rock song. Best Songs are Still She Cries , When I Think of You , Trial By Fire , It’s Just the ... read more
Despite Jools Holland leaving the band for the second time Squeeze still manage to deliver another decent album. This is the first Squeeze album where Glenn Tilbrook is lead vocalist on every song which is not a bad thing. Mostly good songs , I personally prefer the latter half of the album. My only negative thing to say about the album is track 3 Letting Go could have been a minute shorter with an over repetitive ending to the song. Best Tracks are Sunday Street , Gone to the Dogs , Walk a ... read more
