Jazz was hysterical in every sense of the word, but the music press comprehensively failed to get the joke, particularly in the US.

Jazz or rather glitz, which is just how we like it. Includes the terrifically ludicrous ”Fat Bottomed Girls.”

Since over-the-top campiness has always been an attribute in Queen, this kind of grand-scale exaggeration gives Jazz a sense of ridiculousness that makes it more fun than many of their other albums.

Jazz is just more of the same dull pastiche that’s dominated all of this British supergroup’s work: tight guitar/bass/drums heavy-metal clichés, light-classical pianistics, four-part harmonies that make the Four Freshmen sound funky and Freddie Mercury’s throat-scratching lead vocals.

Honestly I wish I liked this as a whole more than I do because Don't Stop Me Now was the song that basically got me into music and remains one of my fav songs of all time even now but a lot of this album just isn't very good. Granted the only song I'd call bad is Mustapha, with all of it's (correct me if I'm wrong) stupid gibberish but there is still quite a lot of filler on this.

If You Can't Beat Them is really boring outside of one super solid hook, same with Let Me Entertain You. In Only ... read more

the queen album that killed in the harmony department without being a full-on opera, combined with the catchiness of the melodies and guitar makes this album worth its respect

certainly a unique way of jazz

I really like the punchy up beat sound of this one better and I think if they continued and experimented with this sound they would have almost made the overall future album's better the track "Don't stop me now" is clearly queens Magnum opus ever other track feels fine but it's a little bland compared to the aforementioned track.
