Easily my favorite nu-metal AOTY. The nu metal elements are fused with mathcore and prog metal in a near perfect recipe for the chaotic cathartic metal of the early aughts. This is going to take a while to digest but I'm here for wearing this album out over the next few weeks minimum.
This is great, has a Supertramp meets ELO meets Daft Punk energy.
The Longest Weekend has lots of ear candy to keep things moving. Some of the synth-heavy songs feel a bit derivative of Daft Punk (e.g. The Language of Love) but not in an annoying way, more just makes me wish Daft Punk released more music. Bonus few points for the awesome album cover...I kinda want to buy the LP just for the cover.
Favorite cuts are My Big Day Off and Stargazing, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy ... read more
Cool cool, so as a society we can officially be done with Sabrina Carpenter now, right?
The album might be improved if they replaced Sabrina Carpenter with the sound of air slowly leaking from a balloon.
Diet Dua Lipa strikes again. NGL, I kinda like it , especially the first and last couple songs.

1st half is stellar, especially Dead and Psycho. Second half falls off but is still enjoyable. Will return for another spin.
Consensus ratings are spot on here. The production is ass...like, one week camping in the back country with no shower ass.
WTF is going on here? This isn't the band I grew up with...what a weird way to change up the sound. I almost think they used ChatGPT to make this album. The production, lyrics, vocals, instrumentals, every. fucking. thing. sounds fake.

This was a bit of a chore to get through tbh. Very monotonous in vocal inflection and instrumentals. Vodka Cranberry is definitely a highlight but honestly I was looking forward to the end of the album by track 8 or 9.
It's not bad by any means and I can see how people would really like this, but I'd rather have the David Bowie-like sound from Conan's last album.
First listen in and my initial reaction is that Tennessee Lightning might be one of the best produced country albums that I've ever heard. The whole album has such a dream-like aesthetic to it. The instrumentals are straightforward but each note has such a rich reverb that adds a depth to the simplicity. Gorgeous, gorgeous sounding album. I'll be back for more later, gotta soak this one in for a bit.

What a lazy way to release new songs. I happen to love LPs - the artist's arrangement choices matter and speak to the overall tone of the songs. Really, really hope this isn't the future of music. That in itself means my rating won't go above a 50. It's not an album and since this is AOTY that has to count for something.
Anyway, after spending a few minutes loading the 17 singles into one playlist titled "Hayley Williams Stupid Album" I think I would probably rate ... read more
I fucks with Tropical Fuck Storm.
Sick album, awesome cover, premium band name. This album hits a trifecta, only falling off a little for me in the last third of the album.

Viagr aboys is solid from base to tip.
Been sitting on this album for months, expecting it to fade away as more 2025 releases came out but I keep coming back. I've realized this is the album I turn to when I've had a shitty day and just want to blow off some steam. Something about the stream of consciousness lyrics mixed with the punk vibe makes it a 2020s version of what Cake was in the 1990s. Fucking fabulous.

I'm going to have to give Vanisher a couple of spins before settling on a final score but it didn't totally click with me on the first run through. There were a couple of standouts, Godstained being one in particular, where Quadeca allows the song to breathe and results in a compelling, almost mesmerizing track. Through most of the album, however, it seemed like Quadeca was cramming so much into each song that it all sort of blends together and becomes a bit suffocating. I wish he ... read more
This album is a chore to absorb and best for a deep dive into A7X....not recommended as an intro to the band.
What is there to say...Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is a prototypical debut album from a band still trying to find their signature sound. A mishmash of ideas with lot of parroting of better known artists mixed with some hints of the band's eventual sound moving forward. There are some gems hidden here, the Rev's drumming for the most part is as solid as ever and the intro ... read more
This does not feel like an album, rather a collection of songs that are only held together by the consistent cringe-worthy lyrical content from a 38-year old artist still trying to reach into the 20-something experience. Freedom should = growth but for Kesha, Freedom = stagnation (period).
This is the soundtrack to Derek Zoolander's one day working in the West Virginia coal mines.
Yeah I'm fully on the 'fuck this shit' bandwagon. I think I'm mostly pissed at him comparing this album to Bruce Springsteen. Yeah, totally nailed the blue collar struggle with the AI generated lyrics and generic new wave backing tracks. Next time Benson is on stage doing a cartwheel in his sequined onesie I'm really going to really think about the struggle. Most of the ... read more
