Listening to a new album every day: Day 1000
1000 days.
I originally starting doing this to expand my music taste, and I’ve succeeded at that more than I can ever know. My appreciation for music has grown so much in the past 1000 days. I’ve spent certain weeks exploring different cultures or time periods of music. I’ve branched out from just listening to a few artists 3 years ago to being able to at minimum appreciate almost all genres and styles. I’ve found communities ... read more
Listening to a new album every day: Day 999
Tomorrow is the big day. I’ve decided to listen to this as day 999, as it’s supposedly the first album added to the site. It’s pretty nice, especially the beginning set of tracks. The album has a relatively unique style of Americana, and it flows very well as a whole experience. Song to song there can be some duds, but it’s good as a whole. It’s paced well, had both catchy and nice textural moments, and is overall just ... read more
Listening to a new album every day: Day 998
I think the strongest part about this is its atmosphere and not its actual songwriting. The songs are good, but the happy— yet occasionally somber— mood that’s set is what really stuck out to me. Most of these songs seem like they should feel full happy, but something feels slightly amiss under the surface. Like the happiness comes from nostalgia for bygone times rather than the present. I like this mood. The songwriting is also ... read more
Listening to a new album every day: Day 997
This was a lot more genuinely good then I was expecting. There's a lot of catchy choruses here, and the use of synths adds a fun and alien element to songs that would otherwise be pretty normal pop rock. There's a good bit of variety here too, with a couple ska influenced songs and a good mix of slower paced tracks and more upbeat ones. There were a good amount of songs that hooked me instantly and kept my attention, especially Who's ... read more
Listening to a new album every day: Day 996
Pretty cool, I like how melodic this is, but it doesn’t resonate super heavily with me. I definitely liked it, the beginning 4 or so tracks are very fun, and i liked Zwitter from later I. The tracklist especially. It can get pretty repetitive at points, but it never becomes unenjoyable. While i liked everything here, I didnt love anything or find any songs great. Its just good all around, a solid metal album with its own flavor.
Listening to a new album every day: Day 995
This doesn't really do much for me at all. It's modern grunge, but it's more slow than most grunge is. The actual songwriting also reminds me more of alt metal than anything else. I just can't get into this though. I liked the first 2 songs, but the style here got tiring to me quick. Every song has the same energy, and it's a slow energy. I like when it utilizes dissonance, and there were a few notable moments through out, ... read more
