Definite grower for me. I lowkey think she's doing something no one else is right now and I wish this was longer! Gas Station and Unknown Loverz capture this cool melancholic nostalgic summery feeling that is so rare to find for me. MORE MORE MORE!
I could understand why people might really like this but it's not exactly what I'm looking for right now. Talk To Me and Into The Sun are both great!
So fucking good. I'm trying so hard to find something that captures the same feeling this does. I grew up listening to Rill Rill and Crown on the Ground and that's why I am the way I am
I enjoy this album way more than I do Is This It. Like significantly. I don't want to change the world, I just want to watch it go by.
I think a fatal flaw of mine is that I think this is just okay! I honestly think it would hit much harder in certain environments/experiences. Like there is a very certain vibe this gives off that I'm sure if listened to under the right circumstances would connect pretty instantly. I will continue searching this out. However, as of right now I think it's good, not great. The highs are so so so high though! Someone Great and All my Friends are maybe two of the best songs ever made.
I am a pervert so I didn't not enjoy it because of the lyrics/subject matter, I didn't really find it shocking, this is just kind of how Peaches is, etc. I just didn't really like it. I can't imagine when I would personally listen to this. It's not catchy enough for me to picture wanting to dance to it or get ready to it. It would be awkward and too on the nose to fuck to. I think I would actually really enjoy it if I connected more with the beats/backing track but I ... read more
I wouldn't say this is perfect by any means but I think it's pretty great. I would absolutely love for them to lean more into the Arabic influences re: instrumentation. I found that that aspect was kind of the only thing that separates them from Truck Violence or Chat Pile to me and I think are what make All Hail such a good ass song.
I found the second half to be a lot stronger than the first half. I'm not historically the biggest shoegaze fan, so I found myself better enjoying tracks where they strayed from the shoegaze-y sound better. I think everything they try on this is done so so well and works great together. I can see myself listening to this a lot now that the sun is starting to come out. Rating is subject to change! I was born to party, you were born to bring it down.
SO good. I normally do not care for interludes whatsoever but this was one of the first albums I felt as though they were really important to the storyline. Very sensual and sexy without feeling empty or horny just for the sake of being horny which is a gripe I feel like I have with a lot of more sensual sounding albums. Also real as hell, see: your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart.
Yo La Tengo so goated. I think I might like this even better than ICHTHBAO.
Favourites: Big Day Coming, From a Motel 6, Sudden Organ, The Whole of the Law
Liked this a lot, though I found it similar enough to Stereolab that I feel like I would sooner just listen to Stereolab because I really enjoy Stereolab. Will put on my general living room playlist and see if it seems to stick out to me more as I listen more.
Favourites: Echo's Answer, You Can Fall
i don't particularly care for this. it's good. i think people are kind of falling victim to general hype. it's a good album i just don't particularly think it's.... THIS good. maybe my opinion will change if i listen to it more. i don't really appreciate his vocals and i frankly don't think the lyrics connect with me well enough to wave the vocals off, save for the writing on au pays du cocaine.
favourites: husbands, au pays du cocaine, taxes
BANGING. I cannot wait to play this by the pool in the summer. Sooooo sexy, feels so good!!! I don't think I'd typically consider myself a fan of deep house but I enjoyed this so much. Her voice is so beautiful and I really felt like each song was able to fully bloom without being needlessly long. I didn't find any of the songs boring or same-y which I feel like is normally my gripe with this genre.
Favourites: Ladida, The Boy, Doing It Too, Bite The Bait, Close 2 Me
