Squid - Cowards
92

A highly imaginative and inspiring album that acts as a soft cushion over a pair of ears that is in need of healing. It is great to see that some incentive for underground music and art in music still exists, every song on the album is like its own masterpiece.

PARTYNEXTDOOR - $ome $exy $ongs 4 U
37

Something underwhealming 4 (3.7 realy but ok) U.

Selena Gomez - I Said I Love You First
62

After finishing the album, I realised I had gained very little from it, I found myself questioning the meaning of it and what actually was the point of releasing this ok collection of songs, maybe it was just a cash grab, to maintain consistency or to try and rebrand Gomez and Blanco together. I don't know which one it was, but even though it wasn't a bad album, it's certainly underwhelming.

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
79

Lady Gaga's long awaited studio album is a satisfying mix of dancey, disco-inspired 'recession pop' which acts as an energetic release from years of mediocre music from various artists, even despite any areas where the album falls, the project still sets a good example for albums to come in the near future. The best songs on the album are Vanish Into You, Abracadabra and Garden of Eden. Overall, the album is fantastic, but clearly the second half of the album does not hold the ... read more

The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow
76

Overall, 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' isn't a bad album, it has a range of perks, and is certainly preferable over many of the big albums that have shoved into our ears since the beginning of the decade. I would say that the best songs on the album are Opening Night, Take Me Back To LA and The Abyss. The closing/title track also stands out and contributes greatly and positively to the total pacing of the album as a whole, it's always nice to round a record off with something that ... read more

FKA twigs - EUSEXUA
89

An amazing album about discovering the secrets of intence romance. Crazy good songs such as the title track and Wonderlust. Will probably have the best production of the year, intrigueing aesthetics and much more! A definite much listen album for the arty, dancy, melancholy types!

Iggy Pop - Lust For Life
85

A fun album from the legends Iggy Pop and David Bowie, I great listen with fab songs like Lust for Life and Neighborhood Threat.

Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
93

A fabulous debut album that exelently sums up the perks and exitemeant of youth, as if it were a dancy coming of age film. In 'Midwest Princess', Roan succesfully establishes herself as not just a midwest, but a full-blown pop princess on the her way to legendary pop status!

Beyoncé - I AM...SASHA FIERCE
81

The album that made Beyoncé a literal lasting icon. A lot of dodgy production, but with playful lyrics and fun beats. A great album to dance too!!

Mariah Carey - Caution
76

A pretty album from the iconic singer.

Ramones - Rocket to Russia
88

Not as good as their debut effort, but still entertaining and energetic. The best songs being: Rockaway Beach, Sheena Is A Punk Rocker, Here Today Gone Tomorrow. The album features flawless production throughout, but falls slightly to boring and uninspiring lyrics, a feature that was seen in their self-titled album. The overall themes of the album is similar on every song with not much musical differentiation, even though it is still very recommendable if you are someone getting into Punk-Rock.

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy
95

A fabulously done debut album, with a feeling of ominous, old-money aesthetic, reflecting probably influences like David Bowie and Lana Del Rey. A gothic-esc story of strength amongst fragility, the album captures the themes of personal struggle and complex romance. The lyricism to the album creates beutiful imagery of bright colours with dark twists, the group effectively transports a reader to the realm of thier world. The production of the album is amongst the best of the decade, let alone ... read more

Mariah Carey - Mariah Carey
81

The Soul/R&B legend, diva, and world wide icon Mariah Carey bursts onto the scene with the undefeatable Vision Of Love, dropping the first stone for what would become the best-selling music artist of the 90s. An aspiring icon and developing songwriter, Carey establishes herself as a force to be reckoned with, both critically, and commercially, breaking every record she can get her voice too. Her self-titled debut album consists of many fun tracks with links to 80s disco and soul. Notable ... read more

Suki Waterhouse - Memoir of a Sparklemuffin
85

Suki Waterhouses sophimore album is a work consisting of slow and somber-toned songs that are a clear depiction of nostalgia to a time so different to what the narrator experiences now. An asortmeant of pretty lullabies, the album is sweet and gentle, with many enjoyable songs like To Love, Model Actress Whatever, the dancy Blackout Drunk and dancy punk inspired song OMG. The albums production is unfortunatly bland across multiple songs, even though songs like aformentioned mini-hits OMG and ... read more

Ramones - Ramones
92

The Ramones debut album, an album that would make a name for one of the most influential groups in music. Songs like Blitzkrieg Bop still stand today as iconic and is still a popular hit. Other recommendable songs on the album are Beat On The Brat, Judy Is A Punk, Havana Affair. The lyrics of the album are playful and jumpy, using influence from political themes, whilst maintaining a sense of fun and carelessness that makes this album joyful to listen to. The group themselves sound alive and ... read more

Nina Simone - High Priestess of Soul
88

In High Priestess of Soul, Nina Simone dives into more soul influenced sounds, whilst still incorporating her jazz and folk roots. Recomendable songs off the album are: Brown Eyed Handsome Man, I Hold No Grudge, I Love My Baby. The lyrical themes of the album seem mismatched from eachother and stray away from Simones more political projects like Pastel Blues. The specefic lyrics themselves are well-written by an ensemble of talented songwriters including Simone herself. Keeper Of The Keys is a ... read more

X-Ray Spex - Germ Free Adolescents
90

X-Ray Spexs debut album is an iconic work of art that is credited with furthering the British Punk scene and also with making Punk-rock more accesable for women of colour. There a some great songs in the tracklist like the title track, Identity, and art-I-Ficial. The lyrical themes of the the songs are diverse and deep, the group critisises the medias influence over a modern populations sence of self amongst many other much-discussed topics of the 1970s. The song Identity is lyrically ... read more
