One of the few instances I enjoy the nosiness of noise rock. Because here the noise and feedback is actually doing something. It has a purpose.
Take "Up All Night" for example. The first line emerges out of the distortion and echo, raw and unsteady. The melody doesn't feel polished or complete. Sound Team opened for The Walkmen at the Blind Pig in 2004. They weren't on the bill. Had no idea who they were but it immediately hit me. There's something about hearing these songs in that room for the first time. Like it soaked into my soul. That same energy is captured in these recordings. So I am biased; this album is shimmering with nostalgia for me. Driving, textured, angular, pulsing.
One of the first bands I discovered online back in the day. This is my favorite release of theirs. Leans into that indie-prog space: intricate, grounded, exploratory, patient.
