Very entertaining project, it's never boring but also sometimes not very interesting. Starts off pretty strong with two great tracks, but the rest of the album is consistently quite solid.
Good debut album, though I still prefer the Chaser EP.
Favourite tracks: BODY THE PISTOL, VIDEO NASTY, HEAD UP
PS: Is the cover supposed to mean anything? Is it a logo or even words at all? If so, it's completely illegible. That’s awesome.
Actually what was everyone going crazy about? This is just regular metalcore. There are a few great moments (like the reggaeton beat in Suffocate) but there is nothing too special about the record.
I would give this a slightly higher score if it wasn't treated as the second coming of Christ.
The vocalist also genuinely sounds like SpongeBob yelling.
This is like the second best Linkin Park album, why does it have such a low score?
As of today Tuesday, February 10th, Mexico City at 14:47 PM, the critic score for this album is 67.
Haven't listened yet, but the top reviews being a 9, a 6, and a 3 out of 10 is incredible.
ACTUAL REVIEW:
This album, as well as probably the band in general, can only be described as incredibly fun and energetic, while also impressive and very unique.
Wildfire, the first song, has got to be a great example of this. It's a loud and heavy track that not only has a very melodic and catchy chorus, but also includes a random jazz break that somehow fits the song perfectly.

Could be perfect but the solo is a little underwhelming, and I wish the first chorus had been repeated again (near the end of the song maybe)
I liked this a fair bit, but it did feel somewhat repetitive and it's not really particularly interesting.
Favourite songs: Beast and the Harlot, Seize The Day, Bat Country, M.I.A
Possibly the most metal record of SOAD, it's an incredible debut for this amazing band.
This album contains some of the band's darkest sounding songs, such as Mind, Peephole and of course Soil, but their silly and dadaesque side also shines sometimes, in tracks like Sugar and DDevil.
Another of my favourite things, as I mentioned earlier, is that this album is the most “traditionally” metal SOAD has ever been, while also already permeated with the characteristic SOAD ... read more
Really liked this one! I’ve never even listened to this band before, but this is a great and beautiful record, that I throughly enjoyed. I recommend it.
Favorite tracks: A Loosened Knot, Bouncing in Blue, Holds, Born at Night, Carrion Song.
A really fun and awesome rock opera, and a truly great but underrated album.
Very ambitious and theatrical, which is something I always like about an album.
The musical aspect is generally impeccable, but lyrically it sometimes is, frankly, incredibly corny, a clear example being the weird uses that Mathias Malzieu gave to the word “motherfucking” in the second and last tracks.
There is also this moment in Candy Lady where Olivia Ruiz intentionally (I hope) fucked up a lyric in ... read more
What do I say about this? What the HELL can I even say about this? Everything has probably already been said about NIN's sophomore LP.
Well, I won't say much, but I will try. This is an album that I would call a horror album. It's a disturbingly dark and tragic record, about a man who desperately tries to gain full control over his life, this attempt ultimately leading him to totally lose it and becoming his own demise.
Something I gotta love is the language used for most of ... read more
