JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
55

Feel like Jpeg just be spamming ult across this whole project..

It’s as if someone woke him up and told him the album was due tomorrow so he spit out a bunch of Jpegmafia mafia type beats and lyrics to meet the deadline.

Unfortunately, in a word, this album is stagnation. It’s by no mistake a Jpegmafia album, only this time without the magic that pulls it all together. Stale lyrical content, rapid fire beats and ideas without cohesion, and it overall just sounds like a mess.

Drake - ICEMAN
54

ICEMAN is a considerable improvement for Drake as he sounds actually engaged on the first half of this project, but then the album becomes a certified snoozer towards the end in typical modern Drake fashion. But to his credit it does sound like he’s somewhat trying at least.

He has GOT to let 2024 go tho, these weak ass bars trying to rewrite how the beef went are very telling that he’s still bothered 2 years later. Plus never let any Drake fan forget that HE SUED BECAUSE OF HOW ... read more

LUCKI - Dr*gs R Bad
48

Yall remember the guy who made Alternative Trap? Anyone got his number?

Lucki’s music in the 2020’s has been objectively uninteresting, samey, and stale compared to his past releases and I feel like its cope to say otherwise. He has 100% gotten too comfortable, the lean and the percs be killing his music.

MIKE - POMPEII // UTILITY
70

Sometimes the production from Surf Gang finds an addictive groove, other times it’s just luke warm. MIKE and Earl rapping like they on percs but there are some good tracks here, maybe they could be trying a little harder?

Kanye West - BULLY
67

While it leaves much to be desired, its a step in the right direction for Kanye and his music.

I guess we live in a time where unprofessional and sloppy album rollouts are what we expect from Mr. West, but after many leaks and unfinished demos BULLY is here. And surprisingly there’s actually some resemblance of an effort being put forth by Kanye to create quality music once again.

However, the lack of inspiration, rushed songs, AI usage, and general lack of focus on this album is hard ... read more

Yeat - ADL
64

Dangerous Summer had me really looking forward to this release. Seemed like Yeat was blossoming artistically, bringing the firepower similar to that of a prime Travis Scott on his EP with nearly EVERY SONG being great. I mean hell, one listen to the track ‘ADL IS COMING’ lets you know the caliber Yeat was operating in and set very high expectations for this. But the album just completely misses the mark..

Im really sad. This was supposed to be Yeats opus, but it turns out to just ... read more

slayr - Half Blood

Wow. Easily the most exciting and inspired rage music coming out of the underground and its not close

Jack Harlow - Monica
53

So.. This was the exceptional release we were promissed from Mr. Jack Harlow?..

Nettspend - early life crisis
50

Some of these beats giving this project CPR, ‘no sleep’’ is also fine. However it still remains a fact that Nettspend cannot rap for shit and he's consistently soiling these beats.

Don Toliver - OCTANE
68

The murky, hard-hitting, and high-value production does a lot of heavy lifting here. Meanwhile Toliver I think is really lacking in the songwriting department

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
75

Did Kendrick just drop his own Grippy?? 😭😭

Baby Keem returns with his long-awaited sophomore effort, bringing a more personal effort coupled with his signature experimentalism.

Man, I've been excited for this one. Keem was someone I’ve been excited about for a while since The Melodic Blue, which showed immense potential even if it wasn’t the most polished project. But now that he’s had time to refine his skills, is Ca$ino the opus we would come to expect?

Well, ... read more

Joji - Piss In The Wind
58

It seems the amount of effort Joji is putting into his career at this moment is equivalent to that of actual piss in the wind.

Man, Joji's trajectory over the past 5 years is really frustrating because he just did the same thing he did with the SMITHEREENS rollout, where he drops 1-2 fire singles, but then gives us a half-assed album. Not to mention he's doing this with 3 YEAR GAPS in between, making it all the more confusing how the albums sound unfinished and unpolished. I ... read more

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
65

Sadly, another very whatever release from J. Cole. Unfortunately, it is his last.

Cole said that this would be his best project to date, so safe to say I had REALLY high expectations going into this because, despite how we know J. Cole is the goat of curing insomnia sometimes; we have heard great individual tracks from him. And moreso towards the latter half of his career. I also think he's a really good feature artist. You see, the problem with J. Cole has always been that he's ... read more

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
67

Unfortunately I had to hit this album with a 67..

Don’t Be Dumb is here at long last and straight up it is INCREDIBLY underwhelming on all fronts. I feel like you can say literally every component of this project is OK at best. Seems like Rocky though he could swag his way through the album but it just comes off as half assed..

The album hits its best moments on tracks like Helicopter, Stay Here 4 Life, Stop Snitching & specifically only the first half of Dont Be Dumb /, whereas I ... read more

21 Savage - WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS?
57

Probably the most phoned in effort from 21 since Issa, wack features, lazy lyrics, and holy shit can we get metro back on production because wtf are these stale ass beats??

Still some good moments scattered here and there, mostly towards the end of the album, and track 1 is pretty good. But wow this was a disappointment considering the quality we’ve come to expect from 21 in recent years.

Joji - Past Won't Leave My Bed
80

This next album's gotta be the one dude

Autoheart - Punch

UNDERRATED!

The Neighbourhood - (((((ultraSOUND)))))
49

The Neighboringhood

Was lookin' forward to this release actually because I liked quite a few of the tracks off I Love You & Wiped Out, but it seems on this album they went for a newish/more sanitized sound that works against everything that makes this group interesting. Because The Neighbourhood is no doubt pop music but they always had that signature darker edge to their sound that made their songs more unique. On ultraSOUND, they seemed to have lost a lot of that in favor of more ... read more
