Muse - Uno
NR

Agitated is the best Muse B-side and I will stand by that

Muse - Bliss

I did always like this song, but as of more recent this has probably become one of my all-time top Muse songs.

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
85

I do enjoy a lot of pop-punk from it's golden age in the 2000s, but MCR is one of those bands that I've never really given a chance. Not really for any specific reason, other than I've just figured they wouldn't really appeal to me as much. I don't really see myself ever becoming a fan, but I have for a while now been meaning to give The Black Parade a listen since it has such a high reputation and I do really like Welcome to the Black Parade. This album did actually surprise me in a lot of ... read more

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
57

I hate to say it, but I am very disappointed here. I don't really know too much about QOTSA, but I figured I'd give this album a shot considering how universally praised it is and also that it was recommended to me by a friend. I found it to be not without it's positives, but overall a kind of boring listen for me.

The concept here is that the album is supposed to reflect a drive through the California desert, hence the random radio station interludes. I actually like this concept fairly ... read more

Neck Deep - The Peace and the Panic
78

You know what, I am pleasantly surprised with this album. Neck Deep isn't a band I've really listened to much of; in fact, prior to this I've only ever heard Life's Not Out to Get You, their unanimously agreed best album. From what I had heard, they were never able to reach that level of quality again, so I wasn't sure if I would listen to anymore of their stuff. The funny thing is, though, that I actually had no idea this album existed until recently, let alone the fact that it actually has ... read more

blink-182 - Take Off Your Pants And Jacket
80

Take off your Pants and Jacket is the follow-up album to Enema of the State, the album which sent the band to international stardom. Much like that previous album, it explores much of the same themes and has a similar sound, and for clear reason. Enema of the State sold so well that it went multi-platinum, so the obvious choice to build on that success was to just do the same thing over again.

Ok, it's not actually the exact same as Enema, but it's pretty damn similar. Sound-wise, it's the ... read more

Linkin Park - Meteora
84

The second Linkin Park album, Meteora, once again proves why this band got popular in the first place. It's pretty much a continuation of Hybrid Theory with the type of sound it goes for, which is far from a bad thing considering how great that album is. I mentioned something similar previously on my review of that album, but Linkin Park is generally a band that generates a lot of nostalgia within a lot of people, which can definitely lead to bias. Like many people, I've heard their songs very ... read more

Muse - Hullabaloo Soundtrack
85

Compilation album that's half B-sides, half live album. Muse is a band known for having really good B-sides, and also known for having really good live performances, so there's not much to analyze here, it's a worthwhile addition to their discography.

They definitely chose a batch of some of the best B-sides they've ever released, and personally, I think some of the live versions of songs from this album are the best versions of these songs they've ever performed.

Green Day - American Idiot

This website is plagued by Brad Taste dickriders.

Foo Fighters - One by One
64

Not exactly what I was expecting to be honest. I was assuming this album would be something much more in line with the previous 2 Foo Fighter's albums, but it really wasn't, which in this context is mostly a negative thing. Sure, you got songs like the hit Times Like These and the fantastic track All My Life, but there really isn't enough interesting stuff here to make this a super memorable album, which is unfortunate.

Originally, I was going to comment on the fact that it felt like the first ... read more

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
92

This rips. I had never listened to much Linkin Park previously, although lets be honest, it was pretty difficult to avoid hearing their music if you were on YouTube from 2006 - 2016. Anyway, for a debut effort (although with many years of work behind it), this is super strong and I now understand why this album was so ridiculously successful. The riffs are heavy, the electronic elements work really well, and the vocal duality between Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington is unmatched. It's ... read more

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
80

I had been meaning to listen to this album for a very, very long time, but I finally got around to it and I'm happy that I did. This is a great album that probably gets slept on because it's only notable to most for the hits. It did spawn quite a few hits that have become iconic and synonymous with the 90s and beyond, but the other stuff on this album is great and needs more attention. I like the popular stuff as much as everyone else- the mega hit Semi-Charmed Life will always be great, ... read more

Muse - Simulation Theory
38

Holy shit, what happened with this album? We've reached 2018 Muse by this point, so we're pretty deep into what would be considered "new Muse". With that being said, I had absolutely no hope going into Simulation Theory, and for good reason. I wasn't familiar at all with this album before listening to it, other than knowing they went for a "vaporwave" aesthetic in order to cash in on the revival of the genre due to the Stranger Things craze. So yes, I knew this was going to ... read more

Audioslave - Out of Exile
71

The second Audioslave album out of their three, and a strong effort overall. I find that comparing this to the debut is a lot harder than I thought it would be, though.

This album definitely sees the band trying to distance themselves from the type of sound they were known for, not by a super large margin, but it's still quite noticeable. Like the other two albums from Audioslave, there's some absolutely great stuff, but also some forgettable songs that just end up feeling like filler. ... read more

A Day To Remember - Homesick
65

I was recommended this album by a friend, who described it as "Neck Deep with metal breakdowns." To be fair, that was a pretty great tagline to get me interested in this album, so I had high hopes going into this. At the end of it all, I think it's a decent project, although not without many grievances on my part.

So from what I understand, this was A Day to Remember's breakout project, the album that finally reached some mainstream attention. The opener, The Downfall of Us All, was ... read more

Kelly Bailey - Half-Life 2

Why is this so good

Box Car Racer - Box Car Racer
82

The one and only album released by Box Car Racer, Tom DeLonge's side project that he did between blink-182 albums along with Travis Barker. It's got a more hardcore punk sound and an overall somewhat more serious tone compared to what you would come to expect from blink. Part of this is because this album came out in the wake of 9/11, but part of it is also because Tom was getting tired of the expected blink sound, and wanted to try something different. Originally, he wanted TOYPAJ to be more ... read more

Muse - Dead Star • In Your World

Overall a very strong EP that bridges the gap between the Origin of Symmetry era and Absolution era very well. It’s short, but every song here is super good, and I think Dead Star is one of the band’s best.
