Revisiting System of a Down: Pt. 5
Comparing it to Mezmerize, everyone, I mean EVERYONE says it's a downgrade. I think it's an improvement. It may not have as good riffs as Meznerize has, but it hits much harder emotionally. Also, mezmerize didn't have a perfect song that deserves a 100, when this album has at least 3 perfect songs (Tentative, Lonely Day, Soldier Side).
Tentative is a very dramatic song. The chorus is amazing, and when after it he sings "Where do you expect us to go when the bombs fall?" it's a challenge not to cry.
Lonely Day is a nice ballad with a touching solo. One of the best solos I've ever heard. Also, it's the only SOAD song my mom likes.
And lastly, Soldier Side is a perfect ending point for an album and the whole discography. On a lot of SOAD songs they've said "Fuck war!", but they've never looked at war from Soldier's Side.
At that sad point, I'm ending this SOAD discography dive. This album really hits hard.
