Radiohead EPs: Pt. 1
As a Radiohead fan, for some reason, I always only cared for the albums, never listening to the EPs. Thought I might wanna change that, starting with this controversial record.
It starts with Prove Yourself, a song that I actually like the album version of, and find it really overhated. But, this version is weaker than the album version. Stupid Car is kind of a weird song. It feels unfinished, but it's one of the songs that showcase the potential Radiohead had.

I feel like I should've listened to this album before the new one, because the songs on here feel right in between the two albums stylistically. I don't know when they were written, but I'm pretty sure they were written without Isaac.
This album's inconsistent, but still really good, having some great tracks here and there. Honestly, my biggest complaint about this record is Lewis's vocals. It was clearly a good decision to make Tyler the vocalist, because Lewis's ... read more
Well, it was good enough to keep me up at 5 AM, and that's mostly it. I didn't know what I was getting into, it didn't turn out too bad, I just don't see any replayability, because I probably don't wanna play these parts on their own, but I sure as hell wouldn't sit through the whole EP too often.
For me, there have always existed two types of post-rock. The blissful, heavenly-sounding type (GY!BE, Talk Talk, etc...) and the dirty down-to-earth sounding type (Slint, Black Midi, etc.) The heavenly type often had longer songs, with little to no lyrics, while the down-to-earth type had shorter songs, with more lyrics, and clearer song structures. Now I feel that on the first 2 albums, BCNR was more of a down-to-earth type band, but on this album, they are reaching toward the heavenly type, ... read more
Grunge Classics: Pt. 1
Trying to come back to reviewing albums on a daily basis, and this is my new idea. I'll go to some of the genres I like and listen to the best albums in those genres that I've missed. Decided to start with grunge, because I've never heard a grunge record that I didn't like (until this one, kinda), and, while I like the genre, I haven't heard a lot of the albums that are considered classic. I've mostly heard just Nirvana.
So, anyway, this ... read more
Brad Taste 10s Re-review: Pt. 10
The album has grown on me quite a bit (73=>78). Even nowadays, it sounds unique and innovative. I can't even imagine how groundbreaking this album was 60 years ago.
Now, I wanna start the review with a hot take. I don't like Nico's vocals. They do nothing for me, and I prefer Lou Reed on the mic. My least favorite songs are the ones in which Nico is singing. I don't think she adds much to the record.
With that being said, Nico is on ... read more
Brad Taste 10s Re-review: Pt. 9
Not a lot changed since my first review (76=>78). This album still feels like a time machine, Like a Rolling Stone is still amazing, and I still can't fully comprehend Desolation Row. Ballad of a Thin Man is the only song that really grew on me, becoming one of my favorite on the record.
I still like this album about the same, so just read my original review down below.

Yeah, it didn't grow on me (79=>76). I think I even gave it too much the first time in advance. I mean, I like the record, but not everything about it. Anyway, mostly my opinion didn't change, so read the original review. The title track is still amazing though.
BradTaste 10s: Pt. 6
This album is inconsistent and imperfect but still beautiful in its own way.
I won't go song by song cause it would take really a lot of time, I'll just say ... read more
Well, I gotta work on my punctuality. I heard this album last year, 2 weeks ago, and then just was too lazy to listen to it again.
Anyway, the album is in my top 3 of the year pretty easily. It's got a very distinct and unique atmosphere, and that's what makes it so special. But it also makes the songs less enjoyable when you listen to them apart from the whole thing. The album is also very cohesive, which you can see from my ratings as well as the averages. It's one of the ... read more
Top-5 of the year. Not that I've heard too much, but still.
The album started really good, then became a little weaker and more repetitive, but kept a pretty good level overall. I liked the use of guitars the most. Some of the outros were also amazing. I feel like I liked the shorter songs more. The longest ones were also pretty nice, but looking at the scores, they are a little overrated.
Overall, this review kinda sucks, but the album doesn't.
One of the most overrated albums of the year. Still pretty enjoyable.
On most of the songs, it wasn't the Kendrick I liked. The best songs on this record are the ones with the best writing. Whether it's a conceptual Reincarnated, introspective Gloria, nostalgic Heart Pt. 6, or even an underrated Man at the Garden. Those are my favorites.
Wacced Out Murals is probably the worst on the album. I really hated the line "Don't let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, ... read more
Linkin Park: Pt. 8
Yeah, I didn't like it. I don't care about who Emily is as a person, and I don't judge Mike's decision to make a comeback. I guess my biggest problem with this album is that it's trying to sound like nothing happened, like it's the same Linkin Park from the 00's. It's not trying to be anything new, with Emily mimicking Chester's vocals, and with some songs sounding eerily similar to songs from 20 years ago.
I wouldn't say ... read more
King Crimson Must-Hears: Pt. 5
It's easy to compare this album to Larks' Tongues in Aspic, since it's clearly better than Islands, but doesn't come close to the debut or Red. And, in comparison, I'd probably say I like this record a bit more, though I did give em the same rating. This album may not be as creative as Larks' Tongues, but it feels like a whole, complete album, not just a bunch of completely different songs.
Overall, I didn't expect King ... read more
King Crimson Must-Hears Pt. 4:
My opinion hasn't changed drastically, most of the songs just grew on me a little bit (80=>83). So if you want to know what I think about it, read the review from my first listen below.
Original review:
Yeah, Starless is pretty essential.
We'll get to it, but I wanna really go through every song with this album.
Red is one of the shorter cuts here, but it's still kinda too long. It starts as in medias res as possible, sounds like they just ... read more
King Crimson Must-Hears: Pt. 3
Notably better than Islands, but not even close to the debut and even less so to Red (which I'll re-review soon).
This album is pretty good; the main problem with it is that there's too much unnecessary time spent, a lot of the time there's just nothing going on. Feels like they didn't have a lot of ideas and just had to extend the material to 40+ minutes.
The amazing thing about King Crimson is that they're really uncompromising and ... read more
King Crimson Must-Hears: Pt. 2
Yeah, Islands is overrated. Both the album and the title track. I actually fell asleep at the title track, but that doesn't happen without a reason.
The problem of this album for me is that it's just too slow. I liked the debut for being fast, explosive, and unpredictable. On this album, these things are rarely present.
Overall, I didn't like it. But I do leave a lot of room for growth.
King Crimson Must-Hears: Pt. 1
I really wanted to listen to some more material from them, but when I looked at how many albums they have, and how many of them are not considered to be that good, I decided only to listen to their best.
One of the most uneven, contrasting albums to ever be made. Out of 5 songs, there is one that I consider to be perfect and one I consider to be pretty bad and extremely unnecessary. I mean, why Moonchild even exists? Who thought it was a good idea?
Anyway, ... read more
The Smiths: Pt. 4
They had a solid run.
This album is their weakest in my opinion, but it's not necessarily because it's worse; it's just less my thing. This record is more complex musically and therefore less catchy. It's also a lot slower.
The lyrics have become, I don't know, less maximalistic, more grown-up. The best 2 songs in the middle of the album actually have kinda meta lines in their lyrics. Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before is pretty ... read more
For me, Xiu Xiu was always about balancing between crazy and catchy. My favorite Xiu Xiu songs are the ones that are downright crazy and simultaneously really memorable (Apistate Commander, Ian Curtis Wishlist, I Luv the Valley OH!, etc...). Girl With Basket of Fruit was just crazy, and it worked pretty well on some of the songs. This album is mostly not successful at both. It's mostly pretty normal, but didn't become any catchier.
With that being said, it's not true for all of ... read more
The Smiths: Pt. 3
The Smiths at their peak. This album still has a couple of weak songs, but the highs are as high as they've never been before.
Surprisingly, the title track/opener is one of the weaker cuts on the record. It's way too focused on the lyrics and not very interesting to listen to. The other one I didn't like much is Vicar in a Tutu, which is pretty self-explanatory.
The best songs however include the genius Bigmouth Strikes Again, and, of course, There is a ... read more
