Even though Only Theatre of Pain by Christian Death is my favourite deathrock album of all time they aren't my favourite band in the genre. They have been extremely inconsistent and haven't lived up to the Rozz hype of the early works. That's where Madeth Gray'll comes in. They fill in that void I have with some of the most beautiful and evil songs I've heard. The band has an amazing balance of beauty and brutality. It's such an amazing sound and image that they ... read more
The combination of deathrock and metal musically with such fucked up production goes on to make some of the most disgusting sounding songs ever and it's awesome.
As someone who has been a fan of Still for a while it was going to be inevitable to listen to its companion disc it comes with. This live release is insane, and it captures a lot of my favourites live. Songs from The Fragile really got me the most since it's my all time favourite album by them, so hearing them here is insane. The mixing on this is phenomenal and the setlist is elite. If you're part of the rare breed of loving live albums like me, or you're a big nin fan pondering ... read more
some nigga said this guy did this in 1956. Imagine what monstrocities he could've made if he had fl studio. 😭
I remember when Mike returned, and the European tour was announced, in the middle of class I anxiously waited for the O2 Arena show to be posted by fans. This band has meant so much to me and when Portnoy returned I couldn't wait what setlists he'd craft. After waiting for this when it got announced I put it aside and I regret not listening to it sooner. The energy captured here is insane and it wasn't only a celebration for 40 years but also the best way to show the king is ... read more
Listening to this again and it's a little bit better than what I remember. In context with Kami's death the much darker tone and presentation was a natural choice. However if you're used to the first three records, do not come here expecting that. This is very much a funeral dirge. The organ and harpsicord with these Bach esque themes and countermelodies roar throughout the album. Yes some songs have a little more instrumentation, however this is a very theatric and mournful ... read more
Hizaki yet again proving why he's one of the best to ever do it, plus the added fact that this was done with the vocalist Hisui and Airi from Madeth Gray'll is unreal.
Hizaki and Tomozo on working on the guitars made this sound extremely dynamic. Two of my favourite guitarists in the vkei genre ever.
Even though I enjoy Bara No Seidou by Malice Mizer this album is what I would've wanted it to be more like. Mana Sama going all out with the heaviness is brilliant.
This is easily in my top 3 EP's ever. The orchestral reimagining with this lineup was absolutely unreal. Every version here outdoes the original songs. This goes to show that the vision of wanting the guitars to mimic strings translated extremely well.
This album keeps getting better the more I listen to it. This record has one of the most unique and catchy track lists ever that grabs you with every note. It has so many different elements that mesh well together in this release. All the members are firing on all cylinders and there is no weak link here. The songwriting and production just flourish with so much depth and colour. I'm glad I'm finally getting into vkei, and as of right now this has climbed to be one of my favourite ... read more
