2026 finna be the new 1986 fr 💔

Big Black - Atomizer

I've seen three different dates of 1985, New Years of 1986, and May 7th of 1986. I remember it as New Year's Day of 1986 so to have fun I will say this released that day. Why you ask? Well, because it further proves that 1986 was the greatest year in music history.

Tallah - Primeval: Obsession // Detachment
95

I avoided this not expecting much, but it's Tallah's most mature and focused release yet. They are making metal truly fucking violent in the modern age. The production is insane and the drums are easily the best sounding of this year. They sound fucking brutal.

Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away
100

I can't believe they decided to make this for free for Halo 2.

Rivers of Nihil - Rivers of Nihil
0

This was worse than I imagined, completely devoid of their original identity. It is extremely stereotypical, uninspired, overproduced, and headache educing prog metal garbage. When I got into them I was so excited from listening to their first three records days before The Work released, this fucking made me not want to hear anything they make ever again.

Perfume - ふめつのあなた [Fumetsu no Anata]
95

I can't believe they dropped one more single before going into hiatus next year. I wonder if they'll come back, but honestly they deserve it. They had a great 25 year long career.

AJR - What No One's Thinking
0

Call me trans by the way my testosterone left my body listening to this.

Greyhaven - Keep It Quiet
100

So glad I got to see this band open for PTH back in 2024. I loved what I heard, but this really solidified my deep appreciation for the group. Fucking underrated as fuck that blew every metal band out the fucking water this year.

Between the Buried and Me - The Blue Nowhere
30

When the first single dropped I was not excited. It reminded too much of Coma Ecliptic which I already don't like that much. This is however a new low because this is also just a very watered down Colors II. All this shit we heard in better form. It's so fucking boring and uninspired, and the only reason it isn't lower is because of Absent Thereafter, Pause, a tiny section near the end in Slow Paranoia, and the last two songs. That is barely over 25 minutes and the rest is a ... read more

the pillows - フリクリ (FLCL): OST 1 ~ Addict

ofc some dumbass gave this a 55/100

Deftones - Hexagram
100

Absolutely fucking earth shattering

Nine Inch Nails - TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
95

Another masterclass of songwriting and production by Trent Reznor. NIN will always scratch that perfect itch of hard hitting electronic music mixed with great hooks and atmospheric beauty. It is a formula that Trent himself perfected.

Deftones - Back to School (Mini Maggit)
95

The song Mini Maggit is a fun single and I love to think of it as the real opener to White Pony it fits well. Pink Maggit tho is my favourite Deftones song it's so dark, atmospheric, heavy, and the message in it is very uplifting despite how dark it is.

Deftones - milk of the madonna
100

This song is my favourite of the two singles released for Private Music. A beautifully heavy masterpiece making it the best song/single of 2025 in my opinion.

Deftones - private music
95

As someone who doesn't listen to Deftones frequently outside of White Pony and a few songs here and there this is easily their best full package since then. The sound is what you'd expect but the execution in the writing was stellar. It was like they combined the best parts of White Pony, s/t, and Diamond Eyes to create something truly spectacular. My expectations were pretty good thinking it'd be another 7 or 8 but to climb this high was an impressive feat for this band. I ... read more

Black Sabbath - Paranoid
100

As a child my tiny little ears were not ready for Fairies Wear Boots, and as a man I am still not ready.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
100

Today the world lost the first ever metal front man. Ozzy thank you for your marvelous contributions to the heavy metal genre. Praise be to Black Sabbath because without Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne, and Bill Ward we wouldn't be here. Each metal musician that has been playing since this release has Sabbath in their DNA whether they like it or not. The most important band to this wicked, violent, extreme, fun, technical, and wonderful genre.

"Yeah I know I give it a 10 but that isn't the point I'm making. It's the incorrect saying that this was the precursor to Misa Amane when it's clearly inspired by vkei and the gothic lolita stuff was inspired by Mana Sama of Malice Mizer and Moi Dix Mois"
On firegold763's review of Strawberry Switchblade - Strawberry Switchblade
"First of all they aren't e-girls put some respect on Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall. The "gothic lolita Misa Amane" comment is extremely ignorant because that scene wasn't popularized until the late 90s with Mana Sama of Malice Mizer. He even has his fashion brand Moi Meme Moitie which exploded in things like the gothic lolita Bible. The alternative aesthetic that is added into Death Note is especially added because of the 90s japanese visual kei scene. Especially if you look at Ryuk's original design how it was similar to Gackt from the same band."

On trevsfs's review of Depeche Mode - Violator
"Also if you hate the band at least have the decency to respect the legacy and mark on electronic music because without albums like Black Celebration, Music For The Masses, Violator, etc. a lot of modern electronic music wouldn't be what it is. Especially the little precious modern synthpop artists you mentioned."
On trevsfs's review of Depeche Mode - Violator
"Yes it can be prevalent at times like Sweetest Perfection but it isn't always there. Also to your comment on "I wish it was a closer like Brain Damage and Eclipse" i find stupid and funny because Clean samples the bass from One Of These Days and the guys are Pink Floyd fans. Also for people not memorable like David Bowie??? This is either some next level ragebait or you're genuinely fucking retarded because David Bowie is still one of the most influential and talked about artists of all time. It's fine not to like an album, what isn't fine is being an ignorant asshole who has his head so up his ass to say bullshit to sound smart."
On trevsfs's review of Depeche Mode - Violator
"This is easily the worst review for any album I have read in my life. The absolute ignorance and lack of research goes to show how stupid a lot of people are on this fucking platform. For starters don't come here so high and mighty talking about music theory. I myself know a decent bit of theory and from a theoretical standpoint everything on the album makes sense. Wanna know why? Well because even though Martin Gore was the primary songwriter, the arranger was Alan Wilder who has a fucking background of being classically trained. A lot of the stuff here is memorable because of the catchy hooks. Also not everything is drowned in a phaser effect."
On liamelias's review of Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses
"Yeah thats fine even though i don't think the first album is the worst ever i still don't often revisit or talk about it when it comes to DM."
On liamelias's review of Depeche Mode - Music for the Masses
"I'm not acting pissed, I'm confused how someone could claim being a DM fan not appreciating the early material. I get it can sound dated but there is gold in the songwriting and seeing them evolve in music and sound was brilliant. I highly suggest some relistening especially for the early Wilder era because CTA-Black Celebration all have bangers."

"Desert Kisses, Paradise Place, Melt!, Pointing Bone, their cover of This Wheel's On Fire, fucking Kiss Them For Me etc. showed their versatility in that sense with musical textures not common in the western world. Also her name? It was just an innocent play on the sioux tribe and it's fucking iconic and badass. Easily my personal favourite stage name that anyone in music has had. All in all if you aren't an ignorant asshole it's ok to take part in other people's culture. The point we start limiting culture to individuals is when racism starts."
