If you ever need a white-knuckle, furious, animalistic record, this record still stands, next to 50 years later, unparalleled.

A very good Stooges album in it's own right, but not one you'd want to use to introduce them to someone. It's strange attempts to appeal to late 60's psychedelia sometimes gets in the way of it's devastating potential. Still, the first two songs are perrenial classics, and nothing here is really "bad" per say, it's all solid stuff, but the band would have yet to hone ther chaotic, infernal sound.

This is the rock music that parents in the 50's thought would rot their children's brains out.

This is about as good as it gets for hard rock; want any better and you'll be looking through Iggy's older records. Much like Bowie's then-recent album Low, Lust For Life should be gothic, self-pitying, and dejected, but instead, is like an ebullient celebration of life that borders, at time,s on the spiritual. Anyway, the record is a hell of a good time and is also the kind of record you can visit endlessly without getting sick of it.

Meh. There's worst ways of spending 40 minutes than listening to Iggy Pop deliver spoken word poetry at you over Hans Zimmer-esque instrumentals.
