A heartwarming and charismatic performance made incredibly melancholic by Mac's passing just a month later. For all the things that went wrong throughout his life music seemed to be the one place where he could just enjoy and express himself. Nowhere is that more apparent than in this performance.
It's interesting being alive for an career like Kendrick Lamar. Not only is he one of the biggest artists in the world, but he also has the quality to justify his popularity. He managed to garner the most hype for any album this year(maybe besides brat) without any marketing. "GNX" serves to further this idea. On this album Kendrick's goal seems to be on cementing his legacy as one of the goats of rap while also providing some of the biggest bangers of his career.
i was gonna type the author's barely disguised fetish but I'm pretty sure this is just flaunting it
everything humans did before June 25 1984 was adding up to that last song
Played this shit while getting at the dentist high off that nitrous oxide and numbed in the bottom left cheek.
That last song managed to make me jump out of my seat like 4 times because I kept getting jump-scared lol. How tf do you mix drums to hit that hard.
An exceptionally human album made in a time where most musicians on this level are making exceptionally fake and commercial albums.
This is simultaneously the most and the fastest a song has gotten in my head. Ever since I saw that thumbnail I haven't been able to stop thinking about this. Even though the contents of this song are so clearly shown it's impossible for me to wrap my mind around what I'm hearing. Just imagine being Adonis listening to this and simultaneously being told the your father is a piece of shit and how to be better than him. Kendrick is literally fathering Adonis by telling him what his own dad is ... read more
This truly feels like it transcends music in a way where it becomes this other worldly experience. This album is so harrowing, massive, and terrifying that it demands my attention whenever it wants to, no matter what I'm doing. The songs on here can feel like the beginning of a life, the end of a life, or the end of the entire world.
probably a fun time but I refuse to listen to anything made in commemoration of O.J
I think that this is an album most will come away from thinking "that was a good album". For me this is easily the most relatable album of the decade so far. It carries some of the most relatable depictions of anxiety, guilty, and self improvement in any album I've ever heard. Not to mention that it does all of this while sounding absolutely incredible.
Great sounding album with a fantastic message of not living your life like how everyone else does.
