Ever wanted a whole album that sounds like the rap part of Kool Thing? I guess I did. Dirty Tech is one of the best songs of the year.
Sad songs and this beautiful voice = winning combination. Instead of here and I’ll change for you are absolutely stunning.
I didn’t get too much out of their last couple of albums, so I had low expectations, but this is pretty good!
Another interesting trip through Kevin Barnes’ head. This one reminds me a bit of Lousy with Sylvanbriar, a bit subdued and more guitar oriented. As usual, his layered vocals are the icing on the cake. If you’ve followed him this far into his career, you’ll probably dig it.
One of the best greatest hits compilations ever, up there with Singles going Steady and Staring at the Sea
“The doorbell doesn’t work, but it don’t need to if the rottweiler’s home” - favorite lyric of the year.
Not bad, but I’d rather listen to actual geese. Singer’s voice was a major turn off.
Underdog record of the year and damn this was a good live show! Go see his band if you can.
Unfortunately I lost a parent this week. This album has provided me so much comfort. Thank you Robert Smith. As much as I’ve always loved The Cure, I didn’t expect a new Cure album to hold up to the 80s records. This one does and it also fits in perfectly with our world today.
Very Stereolabby! Great poolside listening. The only downfall is maybe they sound a little too much like Stereolab?
This is still the best album to come out this year. Sorry other albums :(
I can kind of get into the guitar/drum interplay, but to my taste these vocals are about as enjoyable as biting into a bad piece of fruit.
Pretty good, but could be one of several bands I’ve heard before. Very similar in style to Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. It’s a joyful noise nevertheless.
Here’s an underrated gem from the 60s that doesn’t get the due it deserves. Several shades of Nuggets on this one.
