Kim Gordon - PLAY ME
80

Ever wanted a whole album that sounds like the rap part of Kool Thing? I guess I did. Dirty Tech is one of the best songs of the year.

Mitski - Nothing's About to Happen to Me
90

Sad songs and this beautiful voice = winning combination. Instead of here and I’ll change for you are absolutely stunning.

Modest Mouse - An Eraser and A Maze
80

I didn’t get too much out of their last couple of albums, so I had low expectations, but this is pretty good!

of Montreal - aethermead
80

Another interesting trip through Kevin Barnes’ head. This one reminds me a bit of Lousy with Sylvanbriar, a bit subdued and more guitar oriented. As usual, his layered vocals are the icing on the cake. If you’ve followed him this far into his career, you’ll probably dig it.

Squeeze - Singles – 45's and Under
100

One of the best greatest hits compilations ever, up there with Singles going Steady and Staring at the Sea

Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band - New Threats From the Soul
88

“The doorbell doesn’t work, but it don’t need to if the rottweiler’s home” - favorite lyric of the year.

Geese - Getting Killed
60

Not bad, but I’d rather listen to actual geese. Singer’s voice was a major turn off.

Greg Freeman - Burnover
90

Underdog record of the year and damn this was a good live show! Go see his band if you can.

Wednesday - Bleeds
95

I dig this so much. Karly’s songwriting is so vivid and relatable and the hooks are top notch. I’ve listened to this on repeat in my car over and over this year and I just keep liking it more. Hurray for creek rock!

Being Dead - EELS
95

This gets the “Fun record of the year” award.

The Cure - Songs of a Lost World
90

Unfortunately I lost a parent this week. This album has provided me so much comfort. Thank you Robert Smith. As much as I’ve always loved The Cure, I didn’t expect a new Cure album to hold up to the 80s records. This one does and it also fits in perfectly with our world today.

Dummy - Free Energy
85

Very Stereolabby! Great poolside listening. The only downfall is maybe they sound a little too much like Stereolab?

Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee
95

This is still the best album to come out this year. Sorry other albums :(

Osees - SORCS 80
85

Prog punk from another planet.

파란노을 [Parannoul] - Sky Hundred
40

A pointless amount of noise cant hide the boring and cheesy melodies.

Joeyy - Try
NR

This is one of those album covers everyone’s gonna be laughing at 20 years from now. So dorky.

Still House Plants - If I don't make it, I love u
50

I can kind of get into the guitar/drum interplay, but to my taste these vocals are about as enjoyable as biting into a bad piece of fruit.

Ducks Ltd. - Harm's Way
77

Pretty good, but could be one of several bands I’ve heard before. Very similar in style to Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. It’s a joyful noise nevertheless.

The Electric Prunes - Underground
90

Here’s an underrated gem from the 60s that doesn’t get the due it deserves. Several shades of Nuggets on this one.

The Kinks - Greatest Hits!
100

The best collection of early Kinks songs.
