Some of the corniest trash I’ve ever heard mixed in with a couple great hyperpop songs at the end. A weird release with lows so low that the entire thing feels sour. Batty Freestyle is one of the worst songs of the year.
This has always been my least favorite major Damien project and this release doesn’t change that, though its still solid
As creative and interesting the way gunk approaches these songs are, there’s something missing in the vocal performances that just leaves a lot to be desired. Each of the features—especially Froe—feel like they have far more personality and emotion in their vocals, gunk sort of sounds like he’s on autopilot. I LOVE ALL MY DOGS intrigues me but it doesn’t move me, even though its undeniably solid.
The first half of this is some of the best music of the decade, the second half is great too. Beautiful music all throughout, the vibe here is incredible
Favs: GLHHULÏ, Mission Audio, Aqua-Soul-Rebel
Decent metal but I wasn’t moved by any of these compositions and wasn’t a big fan of the vocals
As strange and unique the genre crossovers are on this album, I think the blend fits Glaive’s vibe perfectly—this is his style and he’s wonderful at it. Its certainly a bit backloaded with the last few tracks being the most memorable on the project, but the whole experience is still fun and engaging.
Favs: Let’s Link Up and Die, UNCA/Composure, Flyen
The Estrategia half is like a mid 8, the Destruccion half is a 9. Great album overall, really fun listen
Surprisingly solid, Drake’s performances fit this spaced out R&B style really well. Nothing about Habibti is that special, and there are some misses for sure, but for the most part its is a nice late night background vibe. That said, Classic is a really bad song, it sounds like a plugg beat that should’ve gone to a Tony Shhnow or 10kdunkin but somehow ended up on a Drake album, and then randomly turns into a weird horny nothingburger of an outro. Its moments like that that just ... read more
Went from being one of the most creative and talented rappers in the world to making serviceable trap with Lil Baby features
Genuinely some of the worst music I’ve ever heard in my life. At its best Maid of Honour is a sleep album—so unengaging and mindnumbing boring that I had to pinch myself to keep from passing out. At its worst its a war crime. Making Cheetah Print should get you a life sentence. Holy mother of god this was bad
Favs: None
The back half of this album is so beautiful its genuinely unbelievable, Shine is so good
Favs: Jump Back In, All Love, Five Star, Finally (The End)
Honestly this was decent before the final third of the album which is pure filler and could’ve been chopped off entirely with 0 consequence. Drake is somehow completely incapable of constructing a coherent project, as almost half of this is bloat—by song 13 I was just waiting for it to be over. The opener is the best song on here, Drake is at his best on smooth soul sample beats, and there are a couple other really nice tracks here. His performances are pretty standard and ... read more
Ive never thought of using the term “rage slop” until i heard this album, but nothing better describes it. I couldnt hum a single melody of any songs on here or tell you a single lyric, it started and ended and that was it. It was perfectly fine, and in about an hour i will have forgotten everything about it
