Help my friends are forcing me to listen to *holds back vomit* music :(
Instantly drawn in and Killing Time pushes me further. Love the overall feel and I'm only 4 songs in, I see why Image is the most streamed, it has that feel of most popular on the album, but I'm sure there will probably be better later. The peakness keeps going Fear, Sex is good, but a slight dip. Vampire in the Corner is overall really good with like one part that kinda loses me, still awesome sauce tho. ... read more
Time for UHF Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and Other Stuff!!!! and oooh boy is it another mixed bag, or at least that's what I thought on first listen. First Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies, it's good but way too short for parodying money for nothing, it might as well be it's own thing, like even for a parody of a longer song it feels short compared to just normal "Weird Al" songs, good song just poorly paced. This is sort of a skit album cause it is the ... read more
Back at it again for better or for Even Worse. This may be Al's biggest hit at this point in his career. Production quality is at an all time high and his hit of the album Fat is one of his most iconic songs of all time, for good reason too. The following three songs Stuck In a Closet With Vanna White, (This Song's Just) Six Words Long. and You Make Me are all decent enough Al songs with varying degrees of humor and absurdity that suffices. I Think I'm a Clone Now is one of my ... read more
Welp here we are, what many people claim to be Al's worst album. Is there some truth to this claim? Or is it just because it was hot off of his last album which was a studio hit? Well I think there's some truth to both. Polka Party was one of Al's biggest flops. Living With a Hernia was supposed to be his Eat It or Dare to Be Stupid of this album and while it's good it did not meet the critical acclaim he wanted. I think that's generally the opinion of all the song ... read more
Back to it with Dare to Be Stupid, possibly the Album that made "weird Al" the household name he once was. Sure Eat it was his big hit but In 3-D definitely isn't known for much more than that. Meanwhile Dare to Be Stupid has what I, and many others, would call definitive classics. Like a Surgeon, One More Minute, Yoda, and of course Dare to Be Stupid. These and honestly most of the other songs in this album have the best production quality so far. He uses sound effects more ... read more
Album numero dos. While the issues of production quality are still there in some songs, the improvement from Self Titled to In 3-D is palpable. Eat It immediately let's you know this is a better album and by looking at the song list you wouldn't really expect it if you're just the casual Al fan. Sure Eat It and I Lost On Jeopardy are pretty famous, but The Brady Bunch, Mr. Popeil, and especially NATURE TRAIL TO HELL!!! are all bangers. Midnight Star was a new one to me but the ... read more
"Weird Al's" debut album and the first on my relisten binge before I see him live next year, while his self titled album is far from his best it still has some classics. There are a couple stinkers like Gotta Boogie. which while not entirely bad, in my opinion, has little relisten value after the initial joke. There are some underrated gems in here too, Buckingham Blues is not only a good "Weird Al" song but a good and funny blues song as well, and while not perfect ... read more
I'm not a huge rap fan, but this incapsulates the types of beats I like. I love funky and creative and yes, SILLY. The lyrics are very creative and funny on a lot of the tracks and the rest are usually just good. Music that isn't afraid to make you laugh is so rare these days and when you do see people trying to make funny rap or something similar it's just the most recent memes or "offensive" humor, while this is just two dudes and their sense of humor with what they ... read more
Really liked a lot of this album, even my least favorites were good. Geez Louis is peak especially the guitar work by henhouse. I figured this should be my first review on this site cause this is the first album me and my friend (who introduced me to Album of the year) listened through together. I'm glad they introduced me to this tho, It is really good.
Anyways Trans Hyperpop YIPPEEEE!!!!!
