Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers

My Dad has this album on CD and I was a starved teenager looking for any music for me to listen to. I knew Smoke on the Water, Black Night and Highway Star. This is cheesy ass 80’s tunes but hey it still hits. Funny seeing the disparity between critic and user reviews.

listened to Pet Sounds in full for the first time in years, I still listen to The Beach Boys albums, but thought I’d burnt out on Pet Sounds and wanted to avoid overplaying it I suppose. I’ll come to grips with how important this is to me in my own time.

I don’t know why I never registered that this is some real 80’s synth pop retroism like M83 records of the time, I probably prefer Carly Rae Jepsen. This is enjoyable nonetheless.

About

Set a personal goal of listening to mostly new albums this year, AotY seems like the best platform to chronicle it in broad strokes.
