A warm hug, a slap in the face, a brutal shake by the shoulders, this album has life and humanity written all over it. It invites the listener to cry and laugh and live all throughout its messy yet cathartic moments. I have the feeling that I’ll be coming back to this one often.

A bit less polished but a lot more cohesive than its predecessor, Man's Best Friend is more than anything Sabrina enjoying the taste of her newfound freedom. She experiments with a variety of sounds yet makes sound well put together despite her mind being all over the place. I'll never hate an album thats meant to be experimental, even if its not groundbreaking.

I fear I do have to say my least favourite Lorde album to date. What it maintains though, as all of her albums do, is that rawness to them. The truth, unmasked. As ugly as it sounds she doest hide it with rhymes and metaphors she just goes straight to the point and the point ALWAYS hits.

Prefacing this just to say this is one of the most refreshing mainstream music albums ive heard in YEARS. Sabrina and all was cute last year but we have not seen an artist so involved in singing, writing, AND producing all of their own songs and making it sound new and so full of personality. Let alone a MALE artist, we havent had a male popstar in a while, and while those such as Benson Boone are clearly trying, my money is on sombr.

Overall, she excels at the use of her voice and production. But lyrically and creatively it does not feel revolutionary. Some lyrics are striking and simple, such as in Eusexua, Room Of Fools, and Wanderlust, but none of the lyrics really strive for much meaning at a deeper layer. It feels very vulnerable and its interesting how she makes dance music into a spiritual experience.
