Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
93

This song is so goddamn catchy, and the trumpet thingy in the background is so fun. The bridge is a really good SHAKE up (kill me) for the song too. The vocals are also delightful. Overhated

David Guetta & Bebe Rexha - I'm Good (Blue)
20

I don't even like the original song too much, so a sucky cover of it makes it even worse. The lyric "I'm good, yeah, I'm feelin' alright / Baby, I'ma have the best fuckin' night of my life" was probably made up in a split second and is so faux thrilling. The "so I just let it go" part sounds like a snippet from a better, more tolerable song. This is a shameless nostalgic cash grab, but if I pretend that I'm just listening to the original song it becomes a bit more tolerable.

Taylor Swift - Bad Blood
79

Kendrick's verse is kind of mid ngl, downgrades the song. But the original song underneath is infinitely catchy. The lyrics might be basic but it's a fun anthem

Gwen Stefani - Rich Girl
88

Pretty fun. nanananananananana. Eve has a rap-like part that's cool too.

The Beach Boys - I Get Around
NR

Amazing song by the beach boys. It's so innocent and endlessly replayable. Also, it's apparently a double entendre for how they feel about touring, which is cool i guess.

Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
93

One of the catchiest choruses ever. The production doesn't even feel possible. The lyrics brilliantly show she really wants a terrible, just awful romance. great song

Lorde - Tennis Court
89

Idk it should be kind of boring because the production is so minimal, but the low-frequency "yeah"s really sell it for me I guess. YEAH baby be the class clown YEAH (idk how the song goes)

Paul McCartney - Temporary Secretary
87

"Temporary Secretary" is so fire. At first when you hear it, it's cacophony. But play it again and again and it becomes genius. The bridge introduces similar rhyming women McCartney would maybe like (a "belly dancer" that isn't a "true romancer", an unurgent neurosurgeon, etc.), but then he breaks the dam when he declares he will only stand for a temporary secretary. Just the secretary. Only temporarily. Because it's funny how "temporary" ... read more

Drake - Nice For What
80

Probably Drake's best song I've heard from him so far. Half of the reason it's probably good is because of the Lauryn Hill sample but it still uses it effectively, with the Drake chorus being pretty nice and catchy. Would have been better if he didn't say "High school pics, you was even bad then", which is definitely gross.

Kim Wilde - Kids in America
90

This goes so hard for no reason. The song builds up to the chorus very well, and the chorus is great. It's swirling, the "oh-oh"s are fun, but the post-chorus is the cherry on top.

Weezer - The Good Life
95

An amazing song with a super anthemic, if cringy chorus. But the cringiness is the charm. "shaking booty making sweet love all the night" does not sound stupid the way Cuomo earnestly says it. The chorus is super catchy, and when the song builds up it creates an entirely euphoric energy. The verses are sometimes alright to my ears and sometimes still on par with the chorus depending on when i listen so i'll average it out to like a 95 idk.

Ski Mask the Slump God - Faucet Failure
90

The beat is kind of weird, but so is the whole song. It's filled with funny one-liners and goofy "okay!" sounds. A line like "I'm flyer than an ostrich" would normally be an eye-roll but his delivery makes it great.

Radiohead - Just
NR

The song "Just" bangs the entire time it's on. The guitar is angsty and pummeling, with a soft lick that occasionally comes in to make it feel a bit off-kilter. The chorus is pure depressing fun! Not to mention that the music video has a bunch of lore or something. I'm not the biggest radiohead fan but this might be their best song.

The Kinks - Starstruck / Picture Book
90

Starstruck is a fun swingy song, and Picture Book is one of the Kinks best songs, with a perfect catchy chorus. The only problem is the lyrics of Picture Book can be kind of weird or goofy but I guess that's its charm

Vampire Weekend - Diane Young
100

Really fun song, probably Vampire Weekend's best. It's like sped up electronic doowop

Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us
95

A great album. The album starts off strong with the powerful Ice Cream Piano. The second song Classical has a nice instrumental chorus, and a cool stereo effect near the end, with magical synths. Capricorn is very tender and sweet, but the album starts to fall off a bit after that, with songs that are merely really good. Connect reminds me too much of Candyland by Tobu but the fast piano drop at the end is great. Prep school gangsters and Pravda are very nice songs, albeit a bit repetitive. ... read more

Joanna Newsom - Ys
60

The first half of the album is amazing, especially Monkey and Bear. The first 2 songs might be long, but every wait to the chorus is worth it. The same can't be said for the last three, which are just a drag. The harp plucking is somewhat interesting, the duet is nice, but nothing really keeps my attention. Only the first two songs are worth replaying.

Kanye West - Graduation
90

Great album. While songs like Drunk and Hot Girls are obviously not fan favorites, every song on here is still at least pretty frickin good. Half the songs are pop bangers. Also, people today are so centered on songs like Flashing Lights and I Wonder that they forget how much of a banger Stronger is. He took the best part of the Daft Punk song and made it the whole song, which was a great idea. Good morning can get a just a tad annoying sometimes but still an iconic song.

M.I.A. - AIM
65

Not one of MIA's best but it's got some good ideas. Bird Song has a fun sample. Go off on them goes hard, especially when the man comes in and layers his voice with MIA to start the "go off on them" beat drop. Ali r u ok? and the "ay ay ay ay" with the sample in the background create an interesting vibe. However, songs like Jump In sound straight up unfinished and devoid of anything too enjoyable. Still not a bad album. "I'M A SWAGGER MAN / ROLLIN' ... read more

Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride
100

Father of the bride is probably the best vampire Weekend album. Like most White Album-likes, it's filled with a lot of different sounds, and there's not really a bad song on here. My Mistake is a good break from all of the happier songs. Harmony Hall's piano is filled with joy. Steve Lacy's low voice and Koenig's high voice contrasting on Flower Moon creates a good mood. We Belong Together's insane drums and weird "and you mean what you say" high voice thing is fun asl. Great album
