Scythe is a bitter project. Filled with dark and complex mechanical elements and some of the most controlled abrasions i’ve ever heard to date on any “noise” record. Bizarrely put together and very hard to follow initially, Scythe unfolds as it goes, in a much more subtle and refined way compared to its sister records Alive Guy and Sludgebath. Mononoke is an incredible sequel to Princess, forming the duality and making Princess Mononoke. It’s an incredible sound palette and some absolutely gorgeous dreampunk and drone and modern classical with a bit of psychedelic feels to it this go around, and some absolutely stunning production work and layered strings and walls of classical arrangements that swirl and swoosh and make you feel like you are in the world of Princess Mononoke.
