Man, 2019 is the year of surprises... It seemed with every top tier release the AOTY was settled, then we would only have to wait another couple of weeks before a new challenger approached. In my lifetime I have seen more people say it is overrated than I have seen people say nice things about it, so I have come to the conclusion that the modern hot take is in fact admitting that you love this album to death.

Wasted Days is the best rock song of the decade and it's not even close. The repetitive and increasingly frustrated growl of "I thought I would be more than this" hits too close to home for me. I normally can't stand incoherent screams in music, but when the lead vocalist does it, I feel every one of his emotions. It comes from a genuine and heartfelt place.

My vote for the most underrated album of the decade. N.E.R.D's entire discography is underrated, they have been killing it since the early 2000's. Always ahead of their time only the likes of M.I.A and Kanye have consistently been, I think people just see Pharrell's name attached and assume it's going to be some generic pop rap, but N.E.R.D happen to be simultaneously more melodic AND experimental than their contemporaries.
