Quadeca clearly has a decent knack for melodies, yet he fails to shake off his oh so corny and most of all boring musical tendencies. He’s an artist with a lot of tools at his disposal but with absolutely nothing to say, which seems to be the trend when it comes to these rich kid musicians. This one also has one of the worst claps I’ve heard in a while.
Great sound, good video, catchy verses. The hook might be my least favorite part, but I do love the group vocals.
Just as on Honestly Nevermind, Drake combines his signature dystopian factory raps with dance productions to create an atmosphere that is slightly entertaining at best, but mostly comes across as as him begging for more hits. Drake’s hilariously vapid lifestyle could make for a great reflective and embodied dance record, yet Drake forgoes this for cheap songwriting and even cheaper performances. Some interesting production choices cannot save Toronto’s self-proclaimed king of music.
