My problem with this album is really hard to explain, it's like I hear the potential for all the songs but they just never go anywhere. They just never hit at all. Wish that wasn't the case because some of these songs are so close to being something brilliant. I feel like I'm being edged.
I liked pretty much all the songs but felt underneath all of them that something was missing, idk
one sec guys im trying to spell gorjus.
yes this is a very very good progression and next step in their career, it makes sense for them to make an album with this sound. whether you like it or not is a different matter, but it's 100% one of their more unique sounding albums as of recent times and you have to give them props for still finding new hooks and melodies that catch your attention <3
(will probably grow on me with more listens)
I feel obligated to write a review for Hunting High and Low (which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the album), mainly because it has become one of my favourite albums in such a fashion that no other album really has. I also think a-ha are criminally underrated, in synthpop / 80s circles and just when talking about music overall. The user score on here is just crazy.

Not fond of the bland uninspired pop rock angle. Why trade in your interesting melodies and instrumentation on the earlier albums for some of the most forgettable tracks ever?
Lady Gaga didn't necessarily deliver on the "mayhem" front, with a lot of these songs actually matching the calmer vibe on Die With A Smile. However, once you work past the expectation of madness, there's still an incredibly well done album here, loaded with a mix of all her sounds from older projects. She's clearly not lacking in inspiration and influences.
The stellar five track run at the front of the album deserves to go down in history.
Gonna need people to stop rating these albums cos you all clearly don't know jack shit...
Kind of like if a theatre kid decided to start having sex and breakdowns.
About as lifeless and limp as an eighty year old's penis, except an eighty year old's penis isn't AI generated
A very diverse album, but where diversity is normally a compliment, in this instance, I'm more noticing a lack of coherency between ideas. I hear hints of britpop and electronic elements that would have been big in the 90s, but they're not doing the genres they pay tribute to much justice. Sometimes you feel like Duran Duran could do this sound better while still maintaining their own personal sound that was more prominent in the 80s. They're still finding their footing in the ... read more
