Well, here we are, lads. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn't at least heard of this album, or at least one song in particular. As someone who wasn't a fan of Twenty One Pilots when Blurryface released, I don't have the same attachment to this album nor the same complaints as long-time fans may have. Vessel is a difficult album to rate, considering the difference in quality between individual tracks. Ode To Sleep, Car Radio, Trees and Truce do not deserve to be on an album with this low of a rating, let alone the same album as Semi-Automatic. I didn't want to hate this musical. Honestly, the concept sounds at the very least entertaining, and there are entertaining moments interspersed throughout this 57 minute and 14 second slog. Big Tree Religion is single-handedly the best thing I've ever heard in my life and incomprehensibly bad. Listening to the first album a band produces is always an interesting experience. With Twenty One Pilots, it feels distinctly like watching the first season of a show like The Simpsons or Spongebob: you know that, technically, later entries are far better in quality, but there is a certain earnestness in the early years that can’t quite be found anywhere else.
