If I could rate this 1000/100, I would. In my opinion, Vessel is Twenty One Pilots' best work. The sound is definitely dated, but it just further endears the album to me. Every song is lyrically phenomenal; although Tyler's rapping in this particular era may not be for everyone, the contrasts between singing and rap, day and night, hope and fear, life and death are truly compelling. The fan-favorite Twenty One Pilots album!! Trench is so well-produced, so well-written, so solid, so timeless--it seems to me to simply be objectively amazing. The world-building will never not be cool, and Tyler brings his usual songwriting genius to bear on each track. Definitely agree on the must-listen rating.
I was blown away by Clancy from the first time I heard Overcompensate to the livestream debut. The album has an amazing 80s/synth-inspired sound that ties the tracks together while still allowing each to live in its own unique soundscape. I love the alternative/synth rock direction they took while staying true to the roots of who they are sonically.
