caroline polachek does two things i cannot get enough of: making every disparate sound she works with sound like it belongs to her, and making me believe in the magic of the stupid embarrassing parts of falling in love. the way she transforms her vocals into the main instrument of every song and brings forth such soaring emotions on even the songs i can't say i love, i'm kicking myself for not actively starting to listen to her until last week.
this is what i'm fuckin talking about!!! not only is this my favorite recent techno duo, but they manage to effortlessly incorporate their production into the fucked up dystopian world this album revolves around. the storyline is worth seeking out to add another dimension to the audio experience, and the three Arkiv releases take the concepts even farther (Dark Leviathan is my favorite).
the album that got me back into writing guitar songs again. obviously the singles go hardest here, but they're REALLY good, so.
