There’s so many things to love here! The instrumentation is amazing the lyricism is powerful, however a lot of the album ends up sounding the same and being dragged out. Still though, definitely worth a listen!
Arctic Monkeys’ moments of weak lyricism from prior albums comes to the forefront here and the music struggles at times to uplift it, but when it does, you get something nice.
I genuinely don’t see where all the hate comes from for this. Like sure, it’s not a masterpiece by any means and the middle stretch is like its album cover (bland and forgettable), but no song here isn’t good, just not as great as there other work. The final four songs here slap very hard and ‘Black Treacle’ is the remaining standout. It’s not gonna blow you away, but it’s not a tragedy for the ears.
