Robbie can definitely create some great music, he has a perfect voice for the indie genre and has a clear understanding of what his fans want. For me Cavetown has always had songs that I love but whenever I've sat down to listen to an album by him it has never really held up to my expectations. 16/ 04/ 16 was a pleasant surprise.
The production on this album is brilliant and even for my least favourites on the album that remained a highlight. I listened, and I am so very glad I did. It might be some first listen bias, but I think this might be in my top favorite albums ever. So good. I love it. I love it. I love it.
Definitely my favorite Cavetown album, it has a very unique psychedelic and self-aware sound that's also somehow innocent and guileless feel in a childlike way. I wish Robbie would return to stuff like this.
Jack's Song, Calpol, Night Knuckles, Nostalgia in my Bedroom, and Sliipping Lately are all standouts.
