Dream Theater - When Dream and Day Unite

I fucking love When Dream and Day Unite.
This album is way too bashed on by fans. I love Charlie Dominici's vocals. They suit the tracks incredibly well and feel incredibly right for Dream Theater, despite not being the voice most think of when we think of Dream Theater. In my opinion, Dominici's vocals resemble that of Geddy Lee from Rush, which I appreciate.

I think the instrumental to this album is also strong. The songs are long, but don't feel long. It's hard to get ... read more

Great metal album! Can definitely hear the inspiration from Metallica on a lot of the tracks. I thought a couple of the tracks were really mushy and resembled more of a melancholy ballad kind of thing which I’m not a huge fan of, but still I really enjoyed those listens as well. None of the tracks were bad. The basslines were incredibly strong, I liked the vocals, and they had some great soloing in here. Really liked this! Will definitely listen again.

Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
96

Definitely Pantera’s best album.

Mad heavy, angry, great groove, and nice flow from track to track. Every instrument is perfect. Pantera wouldn’t be Pantera without Phil, without Dimebag, without Vinnie, or without Rex. They all have such an important part in each song and it makes for a beautiful sound. Far Beyond Driven has the best writing and composition out of all the Pantera albums and shows each members talent the absolute best. Kick ass.

Metallica - ...And Justice for All
99

…And Justice For All is the fourth studio album by Metallica released in September of 1988, made shortly after the death of bassist Cliff Burton. This album marks the first appearance of Jason Newsted on bass.

This album is an absolute wonder and undoubtedly my favorite album Metallica has ever produced. The tracks have complex, technical structures and exceptional instrumentals. So exceptional that Lars had to record his drum parts in different sessions, haha. The lyricism in ... read more

Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Rust In Peace is a perfect thrash album.

Dave Mustaine is such an incredibly talented musician, his riffs never disappoint and his solos are godly. Best guitarist of all time, hands down. Rust In Peace has some of the best riffs in all of thrash and general metal history. The bass is fantastic, the guitars are phenomenal, the drums are booming. Even Mustaine’s vocals at this time were top tier, haha. Gosh, this album is just amazing. It’s bewildering how people can produce such an ... read more

Iron Maiden - The X Factor

Huge stinker.

Losing Bruce Dickinson in this era really took a toll on their music. I have nothing against Blaze Bayley, but he is unfortunately just not the sound of Maiden. His range is far more limited than Bruce’s and Iron Maiden had truly met their full potential with Bruce. Blaze didn’t have nearly the amount of talent even Paul Di’Anno had. Not only had they lost Bruce with this album, but their writing and musical composition had also hit a rock bottom. There is 0 ... read more

Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark

Fear of the Dark was the beginning of Iron Maiden’s downfall.

Around Fear of the Dark era, their music started to become more lacking than the tracks on prior albums. Fear of the Dark was the first Iron Maiden album in their discography where I didn’t adore every single track. They are good songs, but boring ones. Compared to albums like Killers, Powerslave, Iron Maiden (self titled), etc, the sound is bland and far far below what I expect from such a revolutionary and talented ... read more

Exodus - Bonded by Blood
98

Truly one of the best thrash albums ever made.

So many thrash metal bands after this album, albeit still amazing, were just trying to sound like Bonded By Blood by Exodus, haha. This album had and has such an influence on thrash metal and always will. There is not a single track on this album that I can complain about. There’s no filler, no lacking songs, I fell in love with this album as soon as I listened to it.

An exceeding amount of Exodus fans seem to hate Paul Baloff’s ... read more

Faith No More - Album of the Year

Incredible album. I am a biased reviewer towards Faith No More as the band is one of my, if not my number one, all time favorites. The songs on this album show Faith No More's musical strength well.

My personal issue with Album Of The Year in comparison to other Faith No More records is the flow and individuality of the album. From King For A Day...Fool For A Lifetime to Album Of The Year, there was a big shift in the distinct differences of each song on the albums. Their creativity ... read more
