Ab-Soul follows up the deeply personal Control System with a project that comes off as almost inauthentic. The project never really establishes a sonic identity, often bouncing from tracks that explore Soul's attempts at pseudo-intellectualism to half baked trap and pop rap cuts. Q provides consistent greatness on his end, but the feature artists are perfectly placed in ways that elevate their respective tracks.
Despite plenty of doubt and criticism as a young producer, Kanye West put together one of the greatest debut albums ever with The College Dropout. Kanye's creativity and charm shine through on every track to put together the world of the dropout.
'We Don't Care' starts both the album and Kanye's career off perfectly, announcing to the world that - for better or worse - he "don't care what people say." There is a theme of Kanye going up against the system ... read more
