The songs may not hit the same commercial benchmarks as some of his breakout tracks from past albums, but learn 2 swim is a sweeping success, an inspiring adventure through one of rap’s youngest and most fascinating minds.
don't let Kendrick dropping distract you from one of the most consistently great rap albums of the past few years. i never knew much about redveil prior to checking this project out, but i can say after having it on repeat that i'm an instant fan of his. despite only being a year older than me, redveil has such a mature and well-thought out style of writing. combine that with gorgeous jazzy sample-based production, beautiful vocals from redveil himself and all of the features he works with, and ... read more
This man is the identical age to me and has such a crystal clear and beautiful artistic vision and style to his art
Jazzy and saturated in a different way than Niagara, and a much more introspective and creative focus to the production, rapping, and meaning. Whereas Niagara had warm saturated samples that made for such fun bright days, learn 2 swim almost has a much cooler tint to it that many of these tracks can hybrid working as smooth jazz rap tracks, late night laid back vibes, and even ... read more
While I really liked 2020's 'Niagara', Redveil was definitely riding the sLUms wave a little too hard on that one. This is the first record I've heard from redveil and I absolutely love it. His delivery is often melodic, despite this not being a trap album and overall, his flows and rapping in general are really enjoyable. But the highlight here is the production, which definitely feels like redveil's unique style, in the same way that an album like Flower Boy has a consistent production style.
This album being created by a just-turned 18 year old is wild especially since he also produced the project. Every song on this album is great and is such an easy listen
the second half on home samples from the garden (the outro) and i thought that was cool, other than that consistent bangers and a great album
