Chaotic and fun! Only knew Willow as a musician for her one viral song long ago, so I didn't know what to expect when this came across my feed. Turned out to be a neat cocktail of jazz fusion ideas. Love her voice and the constant rhythmic and harmonic variety. I just wish these ideas were more developed; as the album stands, this feels more like a half-baked collection of short demos. Regardless, I enjoyed the ride.
A woman introduced me to this album at a strikingly pertinent time in my personal life. Perhaps she was laughing at me.
Basically, it's a hot guilt summer and this is my record of the season. Many of the songs feel, to me, at least as liturgical as I'm sure Kristin Hayter intended. Amen.
A raw and honest self-reflection. "Green" as Mali may be, the album hints at a wealth of life experiences and revelations, backed up by solid, mature composition and her beautiful voice. I also find that her paintings, which accompany the album, are great in their own right and complement the music nicely.
