From Exit Tunes here we have a compilation that features the "complete best" of somewhat famous vocaloider LamazeP.
Of course I'm gonna be the judge of that, except I can't cause I haven't listened to any of his albums or songs that aren't in this compilation so I don't really have a frame of reference right now.
The comp begins fittingly with 1. It's a great opening track as it sets the mood and tone for the rest of the album. It's energetic, ... read more
It's a decent soundtrack, it isn't anything special but it serves it's purpose as mood augmentation.
Inferno (Main Title Theme) is excellent, It has a beautiful piano melody and the overall composition is just plainly gorgeous.
I really like Taxi Ride (Rome), it has a pretty intense prog rock sound to it and it's got a good energy to it.
Elisa's Story is a very moody, somewhat haunting, slightly spacey track that I quite enjoy.
Mater Tenebrarum is eh quite the ... read more
Suspiria's is one of my favorite films and one of my favorite things about it is the fantastic soundtrack.
The opening track/Main Theme is pure excellency. It's mystical, magical, unnerving, and haunting. The sparkly celesta in this track is just so good, it strangely goes well the dark drums, the meticulous plucking of the guitar, and the haunting synths. Accompanied by chilling vocals, it all comes to together to create that a song that captures the aspects of what I love about ... read more
I feel like I've listened to some of these tracks before. The last Universal Indicator thing I will cover I know there are like some more stuff but I honestly am getting sick of Acid Techno not gonna lie. Maybe one day I'll revisit these and finally listen to everything but right now I feel ill no really I do it's not because of the music but it ain't helping either.
Another very forgettable release, It's just tracks from the other releases which I've reviewed. ... read more
I've been feeling very much under the weather for the past few days so I thought I'll listen to these two tracks as a little threat. I should note that this is my first exposure to The Residents, a band which I've known for a while but it'll also take a while before I actually do a deep dive on them cause... it's a lot.
Satisfaction. It's a cover of a rolling stones song, since I haven't listened to the original song yet I can't comment on whether or not ... read more
It's fine. Whatever. I know I'm the guy who will give everything an opportunity but I just don't have the energy to do so for this one. My favorite is track 2
The third entry in Universal Indicator Series, this one wasn’t even release under the Universal Indicator moniker.
Not gonna lie I think it’s pretty solid. Like with blue it's nothing too special but you know it’s got all the things you would want from an Acid Techno release and the tracks here ain’t half bad.
TARDIS opens the release with a very aggressive and gnarly sound. I rate it, especially those drums which are just so sick sounding.
Wayne's Tantrum ... read more
The second release from the pair, this one’s mainly a product of James’s mind.
You know normally I would try my best to give a track by track rundown but not gonna lie folks I couldn't bring myself to do that for this release, I just don’t have the energy to do so.
All the tracks here are pretty similar to each other. They’re all your standard acid techno stuff from James and they’re all fine I guess if not a bit below average. The only real interesting ... read more
Universal Indicator is a duo consisting of Mr. Aphex Twin and his buddy The Kosmik Kommander. Creatively named after the standard used to measure how acid something is (get it cause it’s acid techno), Universal Indicator is (from what I could tell) less of an actual pair and more of a shared pseudonym, with this release mainly being the brainchild of The Kosmik Kommander.
The first track is solid, it’s a good mixture of ambiance and acid.
The following track ramps up the ... read more
Wow didn’t realize Mr. Aphex Twin had huge jugs but I was clearly mistaken.
Windowlicker is quite the phenomenal track. It’s got such a good beat to it. I absolutely love the instrumentals, they’re laid back yet energetic, It’s the kind of track that inspires you stand up from chair and start busting moves but in a slow rhythmic fashion.
It just has such a smooth sound to it, I feel that’s mainly courtesy of the excellent vocal sampling present here, which by the ... read more
Trust Us, We Lie by A Heartwell Ending
The most popular track on this somewhat obscure emo album is If Looks Could Kill with well over 11 million streams, but is it the best one? 💥
Not gonna lie I was going into this album expecting to really like it cause on paper it has all the makings of an album I would semi-ironically enjoy. Aggressive sound that is very much of it’s time, cringy lyrics, and singing that makes the cringiness of those lyrics painfully obvious. I know those sound ... read more
A noticeable improvement over WHATCHACALLITSNAME.
The instrumentals still feel somewhat basic but I think they got a bit more punch here as there's now actually a nicely develop structure making it more of a song I would actually listen to instead of just being a companion piece to a music video.
This track sounds very kiddish. It's the kind of song I could see in like a Cartoon Network show or something. It's a fun but not energetic. Even during the chorus, Decoyman1200 is ... read more
A decent but flawed track.
The vocaloid tuning is good, I think someone in the comments of the music video pointed out how deep Teto's vocal is compared to other songs and It's a decision that I felt made this track stand out from the rest.
So the vocaloid component I have no real issues with, but the instrumentals on the other hand... they're fine, very simple and not bad per se but they feel a bit aimless. It feels like the song just has an intro that keeps repeating before ... read more
There was a period in my instagraming when I was completely obsesses with Military Edits especially those made by abg.shawn (shout outs to him). One of my favorites was his edit of the AH-56 featuring Azumanga Characters and set to Bumble Bee.
Just from the short sample in that edit alone, I immediately fell in love with. So obviously the next move was to “acquire” as much of Bambee’s discog as I could and so here we are.
Yes I know, downloading an entire artist’s ... read more
The first time I played this release, I had read that this simply contained songs from AB3 but when I made it to the second track I was like “wait these were taken from AB3?” Honestly these releases are not the most interesting so a lot of times songs that I think are good will just fly through my skull. It’s why it’s always a good thing to listen to something multiple times fully before reviewing it, especially right before or even as you draft out your review.
Anyways ... read more
This album was planned to be released in 1995 as the fifth installment in the Analogue Bubblebath series but was ultimately canceled cause Mr. AFX thought it just wasn’t up to his quality standards for the series. Remember, Analogue Bubblebath 4 opens with Elephant Song.
So yeah that would be the end of that if it wasn’t for the fact that a decade later when some manufacturing issues with lead to Rephlex failing and subsequent delaying of the delivery of Analord 10 to 20 people. As ... read more
There are no words in the English Language heck no words in any Language past present or future that is able to accurately describe the quality of the frequencies that is entering my ears when this song starts playing.
