Bambee - Typical Tropical
90

Absolute Banger. Has such great edit potential. Like imagine footage of the Kaplan MT set to this.

Oh and the remixes are like usual pretty solid. Tho I did notice that Bambee's singing is different from usual in the 992 mixes. Must be from a separate take. Her voice is noticeably less high in them.

Bambee - You Are My Dream
72

It's fine and the Drive Fast Remix is good. It features some neat guitars.

If somebody knows any good edits with this song then please share them with me in the shoutbox.

Bambee - Candy Girl

The instrumentals are actually nice but man the vocals and lyrics are killing me. The chorus doesn't sound too bad but the verses are just not it. I am not a big fan of the high pitch baby sounding vocals. It reminds me of like a terrible Vtuber. Also not a fan of the very creepy deep voice.

And to top it all off, no edit potential.

Oh and The remix featured here also isn't impressive. It's just a more boring version of the song.

Thom Yorke / Mark Mulcahy - All For The Best / Ciao My Shining Star
90

A very interesting little oddity.

It features a cover of Miracle Legion's All for the best performed by Thom Yorke. It features the usual simple electronic bleeps and bloops you would expect from Thom but he combines them with some incredibly noisy and fuzzy guitars, and drums that have a very dirty and distorted sound to them. The soft electronics and harsh instruments come together to create a very unique sounding song, at least from Thom. Another very interesting thingis that this ... read more

Les Dales Hawerchuk - Les Dales Hawerchuk
87

In the spirit of this album’s nature, I’ll try to keep this review concise.

Which is a pretty great word to describe Les Dales Hawerchuk. It is quick, it is fast, it is concise. It’s just 31 minutes long and that half an hour is divvy up into tracks that rarely reach the 3 minute mark with only a couple of exceptions.

But let me tell you, the tracks may be short but they pack a punch. All of the songs contain some incredibly intense playing. It’s hardcore punk speeds ... read more

Atoms for Peace - AMOK
98

What happens when Radiohead front man singer Thom Yorke, his main man producer Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker who worked with acts such R.E.M and Roger Waters, Mauro Refosco who did percussion for David Byrne and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Flea himself come together to make an band?

Well you get Atoms for Peace.

Formed as a backing band for Yorke to perform The Eraser. After he finished with that album’s tour, he would invite the band to jam for three days in a random LA Studio. ... read more

Björk - Volta
98

How do you follow up after Medúlla? I don’t know, I didn’t really care for that album but I did absolutely enjoy this one.

Volta is a very fun project by Björk that truth be told is very all over the place with a only a few connective tissues.

It starts with the very bombastic Earth Intruders. It sounds like the theme of a group of marching... well intruders. The production, courtesy of Timbaland and Danja, is fantastic. It's got such a good beat and rhythm to it. ... read more

AFX - Analogue Bubblebath Vol.4

I was gonna write some kind of Zoo plot for this review but I'm bad at writing and also the names of the songs (aside from Cuckoo) are probably all fan-made so um I'm just gonna review this like normal, starting with

Elephant Song... what the fuck are we doing here. FXy what the fuck dude. Why did you make and release this. I like Elephants but this ain't it. It doesn't even sound like an elephant, half of the time it sounds like a fucking goat.

Cuckoo. It's a very ... read more

AFX - Analogue Bubblebath Vol.3

A pretty decent EP from ayefexy. a bit of a step up from the previous release Analogue Bubblebath tho what happened to volume 2?

Some highlights include .0180871R, (CAT 008'97-B1), (CAT 008'97-A2), and .000890569. I especially really enjoyed (CAT 008'97-B1), it's definitely the best track from this release

The worst songs from this was AFX 6/B and (CD Only Track #2) but truth be told I can't be too harsh on them as they are both short and kinda funny

bôa - Twilight

I’m just gonna get it out of the way now

Duvet is a perfect song. It has such a detailed composition to it. From Jasmine Rodger’s vocals to the string section to the Electro-Theremin solo, it all adds up to this absolutely beautiful song that is addicting to listen to. It’s a song that is energetic yet also calm. I mean it when I say it’s perfect, it’s genuinely one of new favorite songs of all time. I have sometimes to resist replaying it over and over again, I ... read more

bôa - Tall Snake EP
87

Released as a promotion for Serial Experiments Lain, Tall Snake EP features three different variants of the opening theme Duvet and two unique tracks.

Duvet was such an excellent choice for an opening theme. The tone and mood of the song just fits so well with the aesthetics and vibe of the show. The lyrics while not made for the show do still somewhat fit. It's a great song and a great opener and I could see why the show runners wanted to use it.

Duvet (Cyberia Mix) made by DJ Wasei is ... read more

Caustic Window - Caustic Window LP

A very interesting release.

There are only five physical copies out there in the world. Apparently Markus Notch Persson owns one. It was sold to him for a whopping 46,300 dabloons, making it the highest valued acid techno record in all of human existence.

In terms of quality, The record definitely contains some of the better works to come out of Caustic Window’s name. Some of my favorites include Mumbly, Revpok, Airflow, and Squidge in the Fridge. I’m especially partial to Mumbly, ... read more

Caustic Window - Compilation
66

Literally just all* of Caustic Window’s Catalog in one somewhat nicely package compilation. I’ve already reviewed all of these songs so if you want to know my opinions on them then well go read my reviews. As for this, just like with my rating for Classics by Aphex Twin, I’ll just take the scores I gave for the individual releases and average them out. Which gives us a rating of 66⅓. I will it round it down to 66 cause I like symmetry.

To add some more substance to this ... read more

Aphex Twin - Classics
85

A clean collection of Aphex Twin’s pre-SAW 85-97 stuff. Since I’ve already reviewed most of these tracks I’m just gonna take the arithmetic mean of the scores I gave them which gives us 83 then add 4 points for the newer stuff but dock 2 points for the fact that Analogue Bubblebath isn’t the first song despite the fact that it makes for the perfect opening track and that the transition between it and Dodeccaheedron is very awkward. This leads to final total of 85 which ... read more

Boards of Canada - Old Tunes Vol. 2

For this review I'll be writing it in real time and I'll then give each track a rating and then average up all the scores

Disc One

1. We've Started Up
+ we sure have, I like the sampling here, it's some good sampling.
[8/10]

2. Jimbo Rehearsing
+ I'm pretty sure Jimbo is like a fucking smiling friends character or something.
[9/10]

3. Staircase Whip
+ I'm just picturing some kind of car made out of stairs just like bumping through the street.
[7/10]

4. Statue ... read more

Klaus Schulze - Angst
80

A good soundtrack for an Amazing film.

All the songs here are very spacey and very meandering but in a good way.

The standout track is of course Surrender which is used constantly through out the film. It's the perfect song to put on when you're attempting to commit horrifying acts. Every time I listen to this song I always feel like I am out of breath, though maybe that's due to the strong associating I have with the film.

Freeze is also another track worth mentioning, ... read more

Boards of Canada - A Few Old Tunes

Yep these are indeed some fabulous tracks

The most fabulous of all might be Trapped as it might just be the most hip hopish thing Boards of Canada has ever made

Björk - Medúlla
83

Let me preface this review by stating that I’m probably not mature enough to give this a fair rating. I will admit that. I know future me is probably looking back at this review and wondering why current me gave this only an 86 and not a 96 or something. I see you and I hear you and again I do admit I’m probably the wrong person to review this but I will say that I did give this album a lot of chances and I do think it is a good album. However... I would be lying to myself if I said ... read more
