Caustic Window LP probably wouldn’t have left a significant mark, and would have been heard as second-tier James. Twenty years later, though, we’re hearing it with that aura, that extra bit of longing that comes from how scarce music from James has become. And in that light, second tier is still very good indeed.

Caustic Window is one of RDJ's countless pseudonyms, and the project's self-titled LP was supposed to release in 1994, which in the Aphex Twin world, those are some good days, with SAW Vol 2 being released that year and ...I Care Because You Do soon to be conceived. Overhated, personally I like this more than some of his released work. It's a great mishmash of his different types of tracks, and brings me back to his earlier work with SAW 85-92.
This was one of the most interesting projects I’ve listened to by James so far due to its sheer variety. The only thing it has not much of is his minimalistic, almost forgettable tracks like Flutey. Pretty much everything here stands out
