Come To Daddy (Pappy Mix). It’s an incredible tune from Richard. Now Richard is no stranger to making very noisy and “tough” tracks but this one really stands out in my opinion as unlike songs such as 73-Yips or Ventolin (Video Version), I find myself coming back to this one a lot more. It’s arguably noisier than those two but It’s the good kind of noisy, the good kind of aggressive. It’s like a nice cup of hot water. Hot enough for you to feel that burn in ... read more
A very nice and pleasant little EP. It features just four tracks but all of them are incredibly effective.
Kid for Today opens the EP with a very calming tune that really sets the mood for rest of this release. The synths are very airy, they're the sonic equivalent of a cold breeze brushing against your entire body. Combined that with a really nice drum loop and you have a track that is the text book definition of chill.
Amo Bishop Roden follows up with a track that is very bright. It ... read more
Vespertine is an interesting follow up to Homogenic in that it’s not a really a follow up. It doesn’t continue the sound of that album instead steering more into an electronica angle.
In fact, it feels more like a continuation of Post. It’s almost a parallel version of Homogenic. if Homogenic takes the sort of cinematic and orchestral elements that sparsely appear in Post and runs with them, then Vespertine takes all the soothing, electronic, sometime even ambient nature of ... read more
When I first listened to this collab album I didn't like it, was jusr not a big fan of it. But you know what? The more I listen to it, the more I've come around to it. I don't think it's nearly as good as the project that inspired it but I have to admit it does some really good bangers in it. Those being
Jelly Fish, Eggy Toast, Reg, and Winner Takes all. These four tracks share some commonality in each other as all four sound like a mixture between funk and electronica. ... read more
I too also love milk and would like for a person to deliver me it when I get out of bed. However, personally I like my milk from a healthy cow rather than a human of the fair sex.
Girl / Boy E.P. is a truly particular release as two of the tracks interestingly feature clear and undistorted vocals from Richard which is something pretty unexpected from him. While Mr. James's voice does appear hear and there in his works, it's usually short, distorted, or both. So to hear him singing ... read more
I don't know why this is labeled as Unofficial when according to bocpages.org this was released, tho in limited quantity. It was also broadcasted in France for some reason. [Update: This release was labeled as unofficial when I originally reviewed it but it has since been change to be labeled as an LP. Tho even that label is arguably wrong cause... well keep reading]
Ok fun facts aside

Who's Scores?
Hi Scores is a pretty uninteresting release. It only has one original track to it that being the title track.
It's a pretty good song. It kinda reminds me of AFX, mainly due to the distorted drums or bass I can't really tell but unlike the works of AFX this is a fair bit more ambient and chill. It's nothing to write home about, it's just an overall decent lil tune.
The rest of this EP is also nothing special. Basically just made out of songs from BoC ... read more
Pretty nice EP. All the tracks area good if a bit unmemorable.
Sixtyniner is a pretty good opening and Oirectine is a nicely chill follow up.
Speaking of chill, Iced Cooly, it has a certain vibe but I can't really put my finger on what it reminds off, it's just the way it sounds, it sounds familiar but I can't pinpoint exactly what it is.
For a song that I can easily pin point, there's Basefree which sounds almost like an AFX or Caustic Windows or Polygon Windows Track ... read more
Yep those were some words and there were some music.
The music is good but I'm judging this album by the words... and the words are certainly interesting.
A major departure from his previous works. If there’s one word I’d use to describe this album. It’d be Brisk.
Richard D. James Album forgoes a lot of the Techno and Ambient angles that Mr. Aphex’s previous works always leaned towards, in a favor of a more aggressive Drill n Bass sound that really just pierces your ears in quick succession.
It’s a pretty short album, the shortest he’s ever released. Only clocking in at just over half and hour. But lets make ... read more
Mash Potatoes
You know I've never actually tried Mash Potatoes before so I can't comment on whether or not I like it but I can say that I do like this release.
Hangable Auto Bulb contains a lot of the sound and tone of a standard AFX release but drillified.
The tracks here are just now quicker with, I wanna say printer like drums, two qualities that are staples of Dill n' Bass.
Of course not all the tracks are like this, some definitely have a more Acid techno AFX sound to ... read more
Pretty good EP
It's like if Aphex Twin made an AFX EP. It definitely shares a lot of the traits with AFX's work but I think this is a much better approach at Acid Techno. Like it's not super tough but also not soft. It had a good balance.
The title track Donkey Rhubarb (which btw is such a whack ass name) is a really fun song and it has a really funny music video. large Aphex Twin Teddies examination each others thrusting abilities.
Vaz Deferenz is pretty good. Very computery ... read more
Before starting this review I wanna preface that I actually don't have that much for any of the songs on this album. While I have been Minecraft for a fair amount of time. Most of that time was spent with the Music muted cause I was either playing my own music, listening to a podcast, or chatting with some pals. Even when I didn't mute the music and intentionally left it on, it would just hardly play for some reason.
Leading to me never developing a deep connection with this ... read more
Melodies From Mars is a possibly important landmark in Mr Aphex's career as 'cording to to Wikipedia this apparently mark a switch for Twin's composing style as he started using the COMPUTER instead of the analogue gear he had.
I really like this Demo a lot. I think it has a simple and solid sound to it. Since it's a demo it is a bit rough but that roughness kinda adds to the whole thing.
Some tracks that I am especially fond of include the somewhat cheery #4, the dark ... read more
Richard really had the gull to give us SIX more Remixes of Ventolin, just in case the first EP wasn't enough and you apparently just needed SIX more Mixes. I... I'm actually kinda impress.
You know what else I am impress by? The fact that the songs aren't half-bad. Two of them are actually pretty good. Those being the Deep Gong Mix and The Probus Mix. I'm especially fond of The Probus Mix, It's probably the best thing to come out of this whole ordeal.
Ok so... Richard really though it was a swell idea to take the worse song from ...I Care Because You Do and make an entire EP out of it... Like Bro, what the fuck.
That being said I do somewhat like some of these mixes. I'm pretty partial to the Marazanvose Mix. I think it has a nice industrial beat to it. However it is also the shortest song out of the list. A shame as it is possibly the best mix out the six.
Another Mix I really like is the Crowsmengegus Mix. It's pretty much two ... read more
The song is actually a bit more bearable when pared with this music video. It fits the song somewhat well.
Judging by how good this EP sounds, Bradley's got a pretty cool robot ngl.
idk who this bradley guy is but he does definitely have some good beats.
