The Green Day album of all time.
As a massive Green Day fan, I was gonna like this no matter what. And even though Saviors is pretty by the numbers Green Day, the run from The American Dream Is Killing Me to Dilemma is really great with the latter being one of the bands best tracks in years. The first half is way better than the second, but there's still highlights like Father to a Son which is a great tribute to Billies son. Goodnight Adeline is one of my personal favorites to, and gives me ... read more
I mean...it's Dookie so rating it anything below an 85 is criminal. It's a really fun album with some of the best pop punk tracks ever like Basket Case and When I Come Around. Also some really underrated deep cuts like She and F.O.D. HOWEVER, this being the bands only must hear over nimrod and fucking American Idiot is crazy to me. This is also probably my least favorite 90s record from the band (I wayyyy prefer Nimrod and Insomniac), and in general, this album is kind of overrated and people ... read more
Ngl, I wasn't too huge on all the single leading up to this album and I'm still not really a fan of them in the context of the album, but thankfully those are the outliers, because almost everything else ranges from good to great. Charli always reinvents herself on every album, and this time around she went for a house themed album. There's some great tracks here that are super groovy like Talk talk or Apple, and there's also some lowkey songs here that hold back on the dance beats like I might ... read more
While not as mediocre as some like Fantano or Brad think it is, it's also not as amazing as some TØP stans would say it is. Clancy is supposed to be a sequel to Trench, but except for songs like Overcompensate, Paladin Strait, and maybe Routines In The Night, this feels like Blurryface 2 if anything. That doesn't mean I dislike this record and i think this has some of the bands best songs since Trench like the ones I just mentioned and other songs like Navigating with its groovy ... read more
In anticipation for The Death Of Slim Shady which I'm actually pretty excited for, why not go back to some of Eminems early and best work starting with The Slim Shady LP.
Love him or hate him, you can't deny that no other rapper was really dropping shit like this at the time. Em's goofy Slim Shady persona really shines on here and it makes for a fun listen. Songs like Brain Damage and the classic My Name Is are just really fun tracks to listen to because Eminem doesn't take himself seriously. ... read more
Discog Dives: Kendrick Lamar #4/5 - DAMN.
Yep...I like DAMN more than TPAB, sue me.
This is without a doubt Kendricks biggest album commercially with massive songs like HUMBLE and DNA which were also some of my first Kendrick songs I've ever heard and they still are some of my favorite singles from him.
For the longest time, I was confused why Kendrick formatted every track on this album the way he did, but I just found out it's because this album is supposed to be a magazine and ... read more
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
I was so excited when I saw a new ADTR song in my spotify considering how much I really liked their last album (hot take ik) and single). This song though is so empty and has no bite. Please Jeremy, please come home
Discog Dives: Kendrick Lamar #3/5 - To Pimp a Butterfly
I'm like Playboi Carti of reviews, because I lied, I DIDN'T drop yesterday.
In all seriousness, I'm sorry for not holding true to what I said in my previous review, but if im gonna be honest, I didn't wanna listen to an album like this the other day, and I want to start writing reviews that are both quality and quantity. I do want to build a community here, and this is the album to do just that.
Anyway, what can I say about TPAB ... read more
THEY SAMPLED SANS! AOTY IS HERE!!
All jokes aside, I'm sorry for not being active the past few days. I just felt kind of burnt out, and I didn't wanna start the next album on my Kendrick Lamar dive until I was back (I'll probably be reviewing that tomorrow).
With how many times this album has been delayed and the lead single, DIE4u coming out IN 2021!! I WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL (amazing song tho dont get me wrong, just frustrating), I was kind of worried that this wouldn't live up to the ... read more
Donda 2 is once again, the Kanye album of all time. I know you wouldn't be able to guess based on some of my ye reviews, but Kanye is my favorite rap artist of all time, and this album marks his decline imo which sucks. BUT, I found a compilation on reddit, and it's probably the best we're gonna get and tries to do the most with the little it's given on some tracks. Discog Dives: Kendrick Lamar #2/5 - good kid, m.A.A.d city
Yesterday, I took a look at Kendricks debut album, Section 80, which is an album that really surprised me in its sheer quality for a debut record.
If Section 80 was Kendrick laying his foundation, GKMC is him mastering it. Back in 2019, this was the album that got me into hip-hop along with records like The College Dropout and The Marshall Mathers LP, so this album will always hold a special place in my heart.
GKMC tells the ... read more
Discog Dives: Kendrick Lamar #1/5 - Section 80
In celebration of the Kendrick and Drake beef seemingly being over (for now), I figured I'd listen to both artists discographies because even though I love select songs by each artist, I haven't listened to either ones discography in a hot minute. Starting off this dive with Kendrick Lamar's debut album, Section 80!
Section 80, more like Section 90, amiright? Awful, corny jokes aside, It's suprising that this is K. Dots debut record, because he ... read more
THESE BITCHES LOVE SOSA ๐ฃ
I'm sorry Mr. Keef for only giving an 85 but these songs go on longer than they need to sometimes ๐๐
Still fun though ๐ ๐
The same more or less applies to this track as well, but DAMN I really like this one! The guitar at the beginning is DGD goodness and the chorus is super catchy. I also like the outro a lot
Really good song, but without Tilian it feels like it's missing something. I know why he's out, but still. There are some great parts of this one though like that soft melodic section in the middle, of the funky riff near the end. Will probably grow on me
This thing was basically garunteed from the start to be something I'd love considering Kanye and Cudi are my 2 favorite hip hop artists and have made some of my favorite rap albums oat. They're both also super influential to modern rap and aren't afraid to expirement with different sounds, and KIDS SEE GHOSTS has that in spades. It's only 7 tracks, but it's super concise and there's so much replay value. Also some of my favorite collaboration tracks between the 2 show up here like Feel The Love ... read more
