This album is like a fine wine -- complex at first, while maturing and resonating with each return listen. Rich in poetic lyricism, inventive melodies, and concentrated instrumentation mixed assuredly. Fetch The Bolt Cutters will forever be remembered as the soundtrack of coronavirus quarantine, but it will live on well beyond the pandemic as one of the 21st Century's finest musical works of art.
Laura Marling's strongest release to date, both lyrically and sonically. Influences heard throughout the album's 10 tracks include Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, Elliott Smith, and Regina Spektor.
While it could never live up to waiting a decade for it, Jay Electronica's debut album, featuring Jay-Z on 8 of 10 tracks is a home run both lyrically and musically. Electronica's production is as good, if not better than his pen game. A Written Testimony is an easy contender for rap album of the year only three months in to 2020.
Beautiful album from start to finish. Bon Iver meets Fleet Foxes. Could be a contender for album of the year come December.
