my first words after hearing the whole thing were "this is so ahhhh bro"
I mean, yeah, it was made for a kids movie but it's still bad. The sample is pretty goofy to hear with the hip-hop drums, the lyrics suck with that "you mess with my family" theme. And it's not like I'm surprised cause I cannot remember a single decent rap song made specifically for a kids movie (aside from some Spider-Verse tracks). Yeah, um, if you want to get into Migos' ... read more
Thanks to @highfive for the recommendation
So this EP seems to be a comp of singles that got released earlier that are mixing some rage with hyperpop and I gotta say I enjoyed this project but it's also kinda not for me. I don't what about it pushes me away, maybe the tracks need a bit more substance to them cause to me they seem kinda basic but good enough. It also might be that I'm not really a fan of both Hyperpop and Rage so don't take my opinion that seriously. I wish ... read more
A pretty cool rock EP. I don't really know what to say anymore about it, I found it while scrolling through my feed with reviews and I absolutely don't regret spending time listening to this project. 76/100
Ballad of Nicci's Sorrow (Prelude) - 72
Dark Mysterious Lonely Nicci Man - 73
S.I.M.P - 77
The Well - 85
*quick review based on the first impression*
When I was going into this album I was expecting some Little Simz type shi... for some reason. No, I really have no idea why I did but whatever
I was NOT prepared for stuff like this AT ALL. Layin on my bed, thinkin I'm bout to hear some chill lyrically deep songs but instead I ended up shakin my ass off. This project is really fun, it goes insanely hard, I like a lot of songs but it's absolutely not for my daily rotation. I'll ... read more
track one's name perfectly summarises what we all should do to AI music-inspired slop
Good dance/soul album. Since Damon was a producer of this project, somettimes you can hear Plastic Beach influence here. Sorry idk what to say anymore, it's just good but not really memorable
Fav track: If There Wasn't Something There
Least fav track (excluding the interlude): Jubilee
If you are wondering, it's just a compilation of some umastered tracks by Gorillaz from phase one (so basically from Gorillaz and G-Sides). Some notable differences are:
1. Punk's intro is a lot longer
2. Rock The House is just an instrumental (BRO I WAS READY TO SING ALOMG WITH DEL I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED)
3. Left Hand Suzuki Method (which is called Exhumation here) is longer than the released version by 2 minutes (imo this version is better than the finished one)
4. Clint Eastwood has ... read more
The new orchestral cuts don't really add a lot though Pirate's Progress is peak
Pirate's Progress - 100
Three Hearts, etc. - 92
edit: Whirlwind should've been the third bonus track by the way, it's too peak to not be officially released
"It's a movie that will never make it to the cinema because it doesn't have to. It's just gonna be in everybody's heads. Because we'll give them enough visuals and enough sound, enough music to make up the story."
-Damon Albarn about Plastic Beach from "The Making of Plastic Beach"
This album was an ambitious project from the very start. After “Demon Days” everybody saw how good Gorillaz actually are so they had to keep the momentum and ... read more
James Gunn's music taste is lowkey goated as hell, as a new gen I'm glad he put this song in GOTG 2 soundtrack cause I'd probably just skip it otherwise
okay bruh I like a lot (not most of) Imagine Dragons songs but this one.... RAHHHHHH HOW, HOW THE FUCK DID YOU MAKE THIS AFTER PUTTING OUT YOUR BEST STUDIO ALBUM (Smoke + Mirrors) AND WHY DID YOU RELEASE IT?? WERE UMG PUSHING YOU TO DO SO?? WERE THEY?? PLEASE TELL YES. YOU HAD LIKE AT LEAST 15 BETTER SONGS FROM THE SESSIONS OF THIS ALBUM BASED ON THE LEAKS THAT I'VE HEARD*. THE KNIFE, ADMIRAL, SUNDAY, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON. ANYTHING WOULD BE BETTER THAN THIS (besides "This Is ... read more
this album bro...
Mind u, a lot of people had to approve this project to get it released. Why did so many people approve this? It is not the worst album oat, it has some bright moments, but it's really fucking hard to sit through. A lot of the times Patrick's voice just doesn't fit on these beats. Most of the new verses don't bring anything new to the table. Some of the beats are weak af too. Who the hell suggested this idea? That's probably one of the best ... read more
A pretty simple pop song, yet a really good one. Love the production on the chorus and bridge. MLJ's vocals are also really sweet here. Overall it's just a short catchy tune, it would've probably blow up on tiktok if it had good marketing. 78/100
I might be alone on this but for me the live performance of this album feels better than the studio recording. And it also has Hong Kong and Latin Simone Spanish Version, which adds bonus points. So yeah, I really like this version. 98/100
