They used the same two beats for all the tracks haha
Ok, now for the actual review, that full listen was one of the most boring I have ever done. Of course, this is an 80's hip hop record and not some top produced modern stuff. But this does not change the fact that I would not recommend listening this album, even if someone likes 90's hip hop. The flows and beats were just so similar to each other and extremly boring. I legit can't remember any of the tracks I just listened to, ... read more
Actually, I do not want to hear 21 Savage riding a trap beat with the same flow for 40 minutes. The only reason why some bangers are on this project is the production from Metro, like on Many Men, a beat which sends you straight to the streets of Atalanta.
Nothing against Saba, but his music is not for me. To repetitive and I cant remember much catchy things from the album even though I just listened to it. If I have to pick a track it would be Prom/King.
Yeah, I know this is a groundbreaking and objectively good record, but its a bit too messy and the tracks are too short to build a great momentum. Dooms ryhmes are great, but the flow gets a bit boring over time. For me, the best track is 'Figaro' (by far idk), really clean beat and crazy lyrical performance.
"BADABA BADABA BADABA" ...
How does this have a so low score on aoty? Great bars, sick flows, clean production -> very solid project
Standout tracks: a m a r i, i n t e r l u d e (underrated asf), m y.l i f e (the 21 Savage feature was not necessary though)
'Friday Night Lights' was more like a placeholder for J Cole's first studio album but ended up being one of his best projects. I might need to listen to it again and maybe give an 80. The production is slightly better than on the Warm-Up, but especially Cole's lyrical performance was already very strong, better than on Sideline Story and Born Sinner. The quality of the tracks is pretty consistent even though the last couple songs are not my favorite. For me, 'Before ... read more
Bruuh I am extremly disappointed. Idk what I did expect but this was just a boring listen. If this is Snoops best he is just overrated. Lame Verses and flows is not what I expected fron Snoop. The production from Dre was either pretty mid or I simply do not fw G Funk beats. Anyway, my motivation for listening another Snoop Dogg project is very low right now. Especially if this is objectively his best Album.
'Ready to Die' is an extremly solid 90's hip-hop album. The combination of Biggie's lyricism and the insane smooth production makes this a masterpiece, theoretically. The only problem is that I don't really like Biggie's voice and his flow overall. If this was released by Pac it would have been like a 90-95 for me.
