I was one to defend Vultures 1 but this is just not defendable music-wise anymore. Apart from a couple of listenable tracks this is by far Kanye's worst album. Let's not hope Vultures 3 gets even worse...
Porter Robinson just keeps killing it in the indietronica sound, with infectious grooves. "Cheerleader" has to be among my favourite songs of the year, it slaps so fucking hard.
What I can say about this that there's definitely energy in Ice Spice's delivery. I don't hate her rapping as much as other people on here. My problems lie more in the songwriting, or lack thereof. Every song (with Did it First being an exception) is a half-baked idea. Which basically makes the whole album a half-baked idea. Meh.
Denzel gives a modernized version of his old sound, with mostly good results.
I don't mind the original cover, but what in the actual FUCK is this. I usually don't even rate songs but i just had to for this crap.
WORST SONG OF THE YEAR
His last album had one good half (the bangers) and a bad half (the singing tracks). Guess which side he leaned into more on this record.
I think it's surprisingly decent. Musically it's well-done, production is fine, flows are smooth, and I like the concept of the album.
Now it IS an Eminem album, so there are some corny lyrics and on a lot of tracks it sounds like he wants to be offensive just because that's his schtick. But I think for the most part it's justified because that is the concept of the record. He's basically just using his persona to say these dumb things when he tries to make clear that ... read more
I've never been a fan of Camila. I thought "Havana" was a fun track, and that's pretty much it. Her music always came across as unnecessary and basic, and "Senorita" with fellow generic-song-writer Shawn Mendes was one of the most overplayed and annoying tracks of 2019.
Now on this album she tries to be different. Or at least makes it seem like she's trying to be different. Instead, every style change pretty much falls flat on its face. One of the few ... read more
This just goes hard. It's slick, catchy and really fun. Megan at her best!
The first and last tracks are AMAZING, but everything inbetween is just okay in my opinion. She doesn't really do anything all that new on those songs. The jujutsu kaisen bars were cool tho.
I actually didn't mind Eyes Closed as a single, and the rest of the album is surprisingly not terrible either in my opinion. There's at the very least some life in here, more than on "Origins" for example. Most of the production is still pretty bad, but hey as an Imagine Dragons record, I don't hate this.
Among Coldplay's big 3. Instrumentally beautiful most of the time, and some sharp songwriting.
Coldplay's worst album. The songwriting and singing falters most of the time, and it just sounds tacky. Coloratura is actually pretty good though, wish they expanded more on that sound instead of the awful pop songs that are on this record.
James and Yachty make some magic together! Their vocals compliment eachother well and a lot of the time it's ascension, with a handful of meandering moments.
Now THIS is how you do lyrical, rhyme-heavy rap that actually sounds good, is catchy, and has good hooks to boot. Take notes.
Coldplay's best album. Some of their best and most well-known tracks land on here, and the album tracks also happen to be very well -written and produced. It's just quality!
Probably Coldplay's most beautiful album, with a couple of amazing tracks like "Spies", "Yellow" (obviously) and "Trouble". The songwriting is still fairly simple but the vocals are so much better on here.
An improvement on his debut in a lot of ways, mostly on the production side of things. Sisyphus is also one of his best songs ever.
