The occasional lull moment and glimpse of faux depth aside, Billie Eilish's ambitious debut album successfully set itself apart in a sea of inoffensive, cookie-cutter pop.

Cohesiveness is one thing, but with such consistent melodies and lyrical content, most of the songs on Silk Sonic's record feel like products of a multiple pregnancy. Despite being overwhelmingly cheesy in both a charming and sickening way, Silk Sonic accomplished their objective of delivering songs that are brief and fun.

I Should Be So Lucky and The Loco-Motion are cheesy yet enjoyable, and they are the type of songs that can cheer you up if you choose to embrace how silly they are. However, the cheesiness starts to overly sour right after the first two tracks. The rest of the album is more of the same, but less, and she doesn't really say anything beyond liking this anonymous love interest, which would have been fine if the songs were at least sonically pleasant.
